The Hendry County Clerk of Courts office is closed today, September 11, 2026, in observance of The Jewish High Holiday - Rosh Hashana.
Our offices will reopen on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 8:30am.

Rosh Hashana begins at sundown today — The Jewish High Holidays, a period of reflection and renewal, start at sundown today with Rosh Hashana and culminate with Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. Rosh Hashana, literally “head of the year,” marks the start of the Jewish calendar year and is celebrated with prayers and the blowing of the shofar (a ram’s horn). Observers also eat symbolic foods such as apples dipped in honey to represent hopes for a sweet year. The 10 days following Rosh Hashana are devoted to introspection, repentance and seeking forgiveness. The period concludes with Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the year in Judaism.

Purpose of the Value Adjustment Board (VAB)

The purpose of the value adjustment board (VAB) is to hear appeals regarding property value assessments, denied exemptions or classifications, ad valorem tax deferrals, portability decisions, and change of ownership or control. Taxpayers or their representatives file petitions with the VAB clerk in the county where the property is located. Submitting a Petition
Beginning with the 2026 VAB Session, the filing fee for petitions is $50.00 per parcel. Please make checks payable to: Hendry County Clerk of Court.
