Our Hays County Tax Office's software upgrade is up and running! And if you pay by credit card, you'll notice a slightly lower processing fee, too.

BIG NEWS, HAYS COUNTY TAXPAYERS! 🎉

The Hays County Tax Office is officially LIVE with our new property tax software!

The new system offers more convenient self-service options, easier access to property tax information and documents, and more flexibility to get what you need — on your schedule.

And there’s more good news: lower payment fees are coming soon!

With our new payment processor, fees will decrease to:

💳 Credit/debit cards: 2.15% (down from 2.25%)
💻 E-check: $0.25 (down from $0.50)

We know every dollar counts. These upgrades are part of our ongoing commitment to making the Tax Office more convenient, improving service and finding ways to save taxpayers money.

Stay tuned! We’ll share another update when credit card payments and the new lower fees are available.

Important notice from our hays county tax office.

📢 Property Tax System Upgrade Coming Soon

For the first time in more than 20 years, the Hays County Tax Office is upgrading its property tax software to better serve Hays County taxpayers.

The transition begins Sept. 21, 2026, and full property tax services are expected to resume Oct. 13, 2026.

During the transition, online property tax payments, account lookups, balances, payment histories, tax statements and other services requiring access to property tax records will be unavailable.

💵 Need to make a payment? Property tax payments can still be made by cash or check in person at any Hays County Tax Office location or through a Tax Office drop box.

If you need property tax account information, we encourage you to obtain it before Sept. 21.

We appreciate your patience as the Tax Office makes this important technology upgrade and invests in better service for our growing community.

True Leadership

Yesterday, I attended Alfonso Salazar’s general election kickoff, and I saw leadership in action.

Alfonso chooses community over himself. He made room for other candidates and shared the floor because he understands that leadership is not about getting the spotlight. It is about bringing people together and moving the whole community forward.

I have seen firsthand, on many occasions, Alfonso offer to help and then actually follow through. He does not just show up long enough to take a picture and leave. He stays, listens, asks questions, and helps where he can.

That is the difference between campaigning and leading.
True leadership means representing the whole community, Republicans, independents, Democrats, and everyone in between.
