Congratulations Pte San Win Little Whiteman for winning the poetry slam and also for having their poem selected for publication in the Tribal College Journal.

SD State Poetry Society Member, Pte San Win Little Whiteman, recently won the Tribal College Journal Student Poetry Contest and last night won the American Indian Higher Education Consortium Poetry Slam. They competed against fellow tribal college students across the 36 tribal colleges in multiple rounds of Slam Poetry. AIHEC is an annual contest that brings together tribal college students from across the United States to participate in a variety of contests including basketball, slam poetry, traditional plants and knowledge, handgames, knowledge bowl, chess, archery, ESports, and more.

Pte San Win Little Whiteman attends Oglala Lakota College and lives in Kyle, SD on the Pine Ridge Reservation. We love seeing our members achieve great things!

Yesterday, five students presented speeches at the AIHEC Speech Competition! Each one dedicated time to crafting and practicing their speeches, then confidently stepped up to deliver them in front of the room. Their hard work and courage truly showed—what an inspiring experience to witness!
