As part of Red Ribbon Week festivities Oct. 28, Blanco Vista Elementary students and staff showcased their best floral attire as they not only commemorated Dia de los Mu***os, but also said “No” to drugs!
Brilliant shades of marigold, pink, orange and more were seen across BVES Wednesday as the school hosted the “Dead to Drugs, Celebrate Life” event! It was part of Red Ribbon Week at BVES, which is an annual week of instruction aimed at helping elementary students recognize the dangers drugs pose and the importance of staying drug-free!
In addition, Wildcat students and staff dressed up in honor of Dia de los Mu***os, which is held Nov. 1-2! Dia de los Mu***os is a holiday observed in Mexico and many other Latin American nations that focuses on remembering and honoring the memories of loved ones who have passed. All across campus, our Wildcats crafted special, ceremonial ofrendas (altars) complete with beautiful cempasuchil arrangements, as well as photos of loved ones who have passed. Students and staff wore their best Dia de Mu***os attire, which included coronas de flores (floral crowns), festive guayabera shirts, and faces painted as calaveras (sugar skulls).
