Today marks an important moment in Texas and American history. On June 19, 1865, the last enslaved people in Texas learned of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

As the recent setbacks in the government have shown us, a commitment to equity, honesty and community is more important than ever. We need to be unwavering in protecting these commitments so that we may overcome such travesties like modern slavery and our abysmal criminal justice system.

Let this holiday serve as a reminder as we reflect on where we've come and how far we still have to go.⁩

Hey, y'all!

The HYD Chicken 'n' Waffles Brunch fundraiser is quickly approaching. On June 21st at 12pm, help send us to the State Convention in Corpus Christi. Event address will be provided to those who RSVP.

Tickets are $25 per entry where you will have a chance to mix and mingle with like-minded locals and support our organization in our efforts to make an impact in the Texas Democratic Party.

To ensure we have an accurate headcount, get your ticket ASAP. Ticket purchases after 11:59 pm Friday will not be guaranteed food, but you can still come hang out.
