As Libertarians, we seek a world of liberty; a world in which individuals are sovereign over their own lives, and no one is forced to sacrifice his or her values for the sake of others. We believe that respect for individual rights is the essential precondition for a free and prosperous world, that force and fraud must be banished from human relationships, and that only through freedom can peace a

nd prosperity be realized. Consequently, we defend each person’s right to engage in any activity that is peaceful and honest, and welcome the diversity that freedom brings. The world we seek to build is one where individuals are free to follow their own dreams in their own ways, without interference from any government or any authoritarian power.

"Society has arisen out of the works of peace; the essence of society is peacemaking."
— Ludwig von Mises

In Hawaii, we deeply understand this truth. Our islands are built on aloha, trade, tourism, and the voluntary cooperation of people, despite current conflicts or government force. Peace is the foundation of a prosperous, free society.

Society is built by peaceful exchange, free markets, and mutual respect. It is torn down through endless wars, regulations, and politicians who profit from division. When individuals are free to trade, innovate, and associate voluntarily, communities flourish.

As Libertarians, we reject cronyism. We stand for a foreign policy of peace and non-intervention, sound money, and civil liberties. It is the right of every Hawaiian to live without the constant threat of government overreach.

📖 The OSS Simple Sabotage Field Manual, issued in January 1944 by the Office of Strategic Services recognized everyday administrative routine as fertile ground for disruption. It advised citizen-saboteurs to

✅ “insist on doing everything through channels. Never permit short-cuts to be taken in order to expedite decisions.”

⏳ When applied maliciously, this single directive consumes hours, erodes trust, and saps momentum from any collective effort. The tactic converts well-intentioned rules into barriers where every request must pass through multiple layers of approval, each adding forms, signatures, or waiting periods that stretch hours into days or days into weeks.

The manual further urged managers to:
✅ “multiply the procedures and clearances involved in issuing instructions… See that three people have to approve everything where one would do”
and to:
✅ “apply all regulations to the last letter.”

♻️ These steps can create a self-reinforcing cycle where compliance becomes the enemy of progress, trapping volunteers or staff in an endless loop of documentation.

https://youtu.be/3YqOJOZTERE?si=x-4J8mhJp5ssn08w

☝️ Our chairman points out that a major distinction has to be made between weaponizing processes to deliberately stall progress and using it, as intended, to uphold legitimate rights and protections.

⛓️‍💥 The fundamental difference lies in the principles guiding the actions: one seeks to obstruct and demoralize, while the other aims to ensure fairness, accountability, and proper safeguards.

💡 When procedures are invoked in good faith and are guided by principles of transparency, due process, or the protection of individual or collective rights, they serve a constructive purpose rather than a mechanism for sabotage.

❓The question is one of intent and proportionality: Are these tools being used to advance the mission while honoring core libertarian values, or to quietly chip away at them?

🤓 Leave your thoughts on the topic below.

SB2054 prohibits what the Constitution already bars, but it does so proactively through state law to prevent the very risks the Guard fears. It turns a constitutional principle into a lawful and enforceable shield tailored to Hawaii's context.

“Government has three primary functions. It should provide for military defense of the nation. It should enforce contracts between individuals. It should protect citizens from crimes against themselves or their property.
When government—in pursuit of good intentions—tries to rearrange the economy, legislate morality, or help special interests, the cost comes in inefficiency, lack of motivation, and loss of freedom. Government should be a referee, not an active player.”
~ Milton Friedman

Hawaii deserves better than endless regulations, crony handouts, and politicians picking winners and losers. We believe in personal freedom, voluntary cooperation, and a government that stays in its lane so that individuals, families, and local businesses can thrive. 🚨 Hawaii is about to become a Malpractice Sanctuary for doctors 😡

SB2868 and HB1875 would shield providers of gender-affirming care from real accountability when they’ve faced lawsuits or lost licenses in other states.

❌ No discipline from licensing boards.

❌ No cooperation with out-of-state investigations.

💲 And insurance companies would be forced to cover them without raising rates based on risk, meaning we could all see higher premiums.

This isn’t protecting care. It’s creating a get-out-of-jail-free zone for bad medicine that makes it way harder for harmed patients, including parents, to seek justice.

This is authoritarian overreach thinly disguised as compassion. Freedom means accountability, not government-mandated immunity!

Aloha Friends,

Time is running out on our #1 priority this session: SB2054 (Defend Hawaii). This bill stops the Hawaii National Guard from being dragged into unwanted federal operations (like ICE raids or out-of-state deployments) without the Governor's explicit approval. This is about protecting Hawaii's sovereignty, upholding the Constitution, and saying NO to federal overreach.

Good news first: The bill passed its first joint hearing on February 10 in PSM and EIG committees (with amendments as SD1), got favorable reports, and was recommended for passage on second reading. It's now in the Senate Judiciary Committee (JDC) – that's the final Senate committee hurdle before floor votes and crossover by March 12!

From the last committee report:

“Your Committees received testimony in support of this measure from the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, Stonewall Caucus of the Democratic Party of Hawaiʻi, Green Party of Hawaiʻi, Democratic Party of Hawaiʻi, Community Alliance on Prisons, Libertarian Party of Hawaii, League of Women Voters of Hawaii, Hawaiʻi Coalition for Immigrant Rights, UNITE HERE! Local 5; The Legal Clinic, ACLU Hawaiʻi, Roots Reborn, and more than ninety individuals. Your Committees received testimony in opposition to this measure from the Hawaii National Guard and two individuals.”

But here's the reality: No hearing is scheduled yet in JDC. Without one soon, it could stall and die before crossover. We've got ~3 weeks left, and JDC can choose to move fast when there's pressure. Your calls, emails, and testimony can force a hearing and push it through!

Help us Defend Hawaii:
Call & Email the Senate Judiciary Committee (JDC) Members – Politely demand they schedule a public hearing for SB2054 SD1 IMMEDIATELY and vote to PASS it without weakening amendments. Start with the Chair and Vice Chair – they decide hearings! Be sure to include a thank you to its sponsors with your plea.

🔥Uphold Parental Rights - Support HB312🔥

The Libertarian Party of Hawaii proudly supports HB312 — a key bill for the 2026 session that requires the Department of Human Services to provide parents with clear, written notice of their constitutional rights during child welfare investigations involving potential imminent harm.

This includes rights to:
🫸 Refuse entry without consent
🤫 Remain silent and seek legal counsel
🎥 Record interviews
👨‍🏫 Know the allegations before being interviewed

✅ And more — ensuring transparency, due process, and protection from arbitrary state intrusion.

We fully support the intent of HB312, which advances limited government, parental autonomy, individual sovereignty, and the presumption of innocence — core libertarian values.

We recommend minor rewording in section I (to avoid potential legal advice implications or contradictions with constitutional protections), but this does not change our strong endorsement of the bill.
