πŸš’ Supporting Safety with Pilot Foundation Services! πŸ”₯

Brazos County District 2 Fire Department was invited out today to instruct and incorporate some hands-on training during Pilot Foundation Services' Safety Week!

Our crew spent the day sharing critical fire safety and first aid insights, demonstrating our equipment, and walking an engaged crowd through Engine 221. It’s always a privilege to help promote a safer workplace for our local workforce.

A huge thank you to Pilot Foundation Services for having us out to teach and for presenting our department with a Certificate of Appreciation! 🀝✨

Check out some highlights from today’s training below! πŸ‘‡

πŸš’πŸ’¨ WHEN THE CALL COMES, WE ROLL.

It’s National EMS Week, and we’re giving you a front-row seat to the action!

Did you know? The vast majority of our department's daily calls are actually medical emergencies.

Whether those responding to your emergency are rolling out in an ambulance or a fire engine, EMS crews respond with life-saving skills, speed, and compassion the second that tone drops.

To our community: thank you for trusting us in your most critical moments.
To the dedicated EMS personnel in Brazos County and worldwide: thank you for your relentless hard work and keeping your communities safe 24/7/365.

Happy Earth Day! πŸŒŽπŸš’

Protecting our community means protecting the environment we all share. Today, we're celebrating Earth Day by highlighting a few ways we can work together to keep our corner of the world green and fire-safe:

β€’ Practice Fire Safety: Always ensure campfires are completely extinguished and dispose of ci******es properly. In your home, ensure you have smoke alarms and fire extinguishers. Let’s prevent fire spread!

β€’ Clear Defensible Space: Maintain the vegetation around your home. Removing dead plants and trimming low-hanging branches creates a buffer that helps protect your property.

β€’ Dispose of Hazardous Waste Responsibly: Never pour chemicals or oils down the drain or on the ground. Check local guidelines for proper disposal of batteries, paints, and cleaners.

β€’ Conserve Water: Efficient water use helps ensure there’s enough for everyoneβ€”including our crews during emergencies.

Every small action counts toward a more resilient community. Let's do our part to keep our earth beautiful and safe for generations to come.

How are you giving back to the planet today? Share your Earth Day photos in the comments! πŸ‘‡

Welcoming the newest member of the fleet! πŸš’

We are thrilled to announce that Brazos County District 2’s brand-new fire engine officially arrived at Station 1 this week!

This purchase was made possible by the continued support of our constituents. According to NFPA safety standards, fire apparatus should ideally be replaced every 10 years to ensure peak performance. This engine is the first of many planned upgrades to bring our fleet up to date.

A huge thank you to Safe Industries for the delivery, and an even bigger thank you to the citizens of our district. Your tax dollars at work mean a faster, safer, and more effective response when you need us most.

District 2 responders recently completed training on hydraulic rescue tool operations. This training included activities such as Jenga and egg-carrying exercises. While these exercises may resemble games, developing precision and accuracy with hydraulic tools is critically important when operating close to patients during vehicle extrication.

The more hands-on experience our members have with rescue tools, the more effective they will be on your emergency scene when it matters most.

This past Saturday, Brazos County District 2 units responded to FM 1179 in Brazos County Precinct 3 to provide automatic aid on a vehicle fire, depicted below. The favor was returned on Sunday when Precinct 3 units responded to District 2 to assist with an RV fire off of Fawn Lake Drive.

Automatic aid partnerships are incredibly important to fast response times on larger incidents. We are fortunate to have a good working relationship with our neighbors across Highway 21, the Brazos County Precinct 3 Volunteer Fire Department.

Recent trends show that nearly 40% of wildfires reported in Texas over the past week were caused by debris burning and equipment use. These activities can easily ignite a wildfire under current dry and warm conditions.

No significant precipitation is forecast statewide for the next seven days. An unusually warm and dry pattern is expected to persist for at least the next two weeks. Be safe, friends!
