Exciting news from the Kure Beach Fire Department!
The Fire Department has improved the Insurance Services Organization (ISO) rating for Town of Kure Beach to a rating of 2 following a recent survey of the department. The Department had previously received a rating of 5. The new rating will be effective September 1, 2020.
The inspection, conducted by officials with the Department of Insurance Office of State Fire Marshal (OSFM), is required on a regular basis as part of the North Carolina Response Rating System (NCRRS). Among other things, the routine inspections look for proper staffing levels, sufficient equipment, proper maintenance of equipment, communications capabilities and availability of a water source.
The Class 2 rating illustrates not only the hard work and sacrifices put in by each of the paid and volunteer members of our department for several years, but also the excellent working relationship with the surrounding fire departments, city government, and 911/communications. We would specifically like to thank the Kure Beach Public Works, Carolina Beach Fire Department, New Hanover County Fire Department, City of Wilmington Fire Department, and the New Hanover County 911 Center for their never ending desire to improve all aspects of our service delivery to all of our citizens that live in the Town of Kure Beach.
This rating places the Kure Beach Fire Department in the top five percent of fire departments in the country and North Carolina.
