Homecoming Parade this Sunday, Sept 13 at 6:30pm!!
Roads along the parade route will close at 6:15pm

Please note the following:
Float Entrance ONLY - West Sixth Street
Any vehicle that is not a registered parade float will not be allowed to turn on to West Sixth Street or enter the staging area

Student Drop Off/Float Participants - All parade participants need to enter the staging area, from West Lloyd Street.

To help ease congestion, drop off parking is available at Dyer Elementary. You can then walk your student down Lloyd Street to enter the city park.

Students and float participants CANNOT be dropped off on West Sixth Street. You will be asked to go to W. Lloyd Street.

Roads will close at 6:15pm. All vehicles parked at Dyer, around Dyer, or on side streets around the parade route will not be able to leave until the parade is over and streets are opened.

Student Pick Up
All students and parade participants will unload at the BACK of Dyer Elementary, on N. 2nd Street. DO NOT try to pick up your student before the float comes to a complete stop in the pick up area at the back of Dyer Elementary on N. 2nd Street.

The Denton County Commissioners Court has issued a COUNTY-WIDE MANDATORY BURN BAN, effective today, August 25, 2026.

The burn ban prohibits all outdoor burning and also includes restrictions on:

🚫 Outdoor hot work, including welding and cutting torch operations
🚫 The use of certain combustible materials
🚫 Other activities identified in the burn ban order that may create an increased fire hazard

Dry conditions across Denton County have significantly increased the risk of rapidly spreading wildfires. Everyone is encouraged to use extreme caution with any activity that could produce heat, sparks, or open flame.

⚠️ Violation of the County Judge’s executive-ordered burn ban is a Class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $500.

The crossing is now open. Please drive carefully!

🚨 RAILROAD CROSSING UPDATE 🚨

The city has been notified that the railroad crossing is expected to reopen to traffic after 4:00 a.m.

Please continue to use caution in the area and obey all posted traffic signs, cones, and traffic control measures.

🚂TxDOT will close the McCart St railroad crossing for repairs from Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. through Monday, August 10, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. Please plan ahead and use an alternate route.

⭐ Planned Reopening: Hopkins Road is planned to reopen Monday morning.

⏰ Please note: There is a possibility that the railroad crossing will be open to traffic during portions of the day on Sunday and Monday morning. Please use caution and obey all traffic signs, cones, and any directions from traffic control personnel.

Our condolences to family, friends and colleagues of this amazing woman. For many years, the Thomas’ chose Krum as their home and raised two children here. Her passing is a painful loss.
