BEAR UPDATE: Please call in sightings 👀

We’re going to step things up a bit. Colorado Parks and Wildlife has suggested our police start actively hazing bears when they come into Town - essentially, to make Kremmling an unpleasant place for them to hang out.

Our officers have been provided with non-lethal bean bag launchers and other tools to help scare bears off and hopefully teach them to stay away from populated areas.

If you see a bear in Town, please ensure your safety and then call it in:

📞 Before 5:00pm: Kremmling Police Department - 970-724-3318

📞 After 5:00pm: Grand County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency line - 970-725-3311

The sooner we know where the bear is, the better chance we have of responding and driving it out of Town. This will (hopefully) help reduce risks to residents and avoid having to lethally remove any more bears if possible.

Please continue securing trash, pet food and other attractants as well as being careful if you choose leave your doors or windows open. The less reason bears have to come into Town in the first place, the better 🐻

Can you do us a quick favor? 🐻

We’re continuing to see bear activity and encounters around Town, so we have one simple request for everyone for the rest of bear season:

➡️ If you can, PLEASE keep your trash inside a garage, shed or other secure area and do not put it out until the morning of pickup.

This is not a new Town rule. We’re simply asking everyone to please help remove one of main attractants that keeps bears coming back into neighborhoods.

Thank you, Kremmling 👍

P.S. - Friendly reminder to either keep your house secure or be on alert if you choose to keep your doors or windows open!

🚧 2026 PAVING UPDATE 🚘

We know a lot of the pavement around Town needs work. Our 2025 Streets Master Plan confirmed it: most of Kremmling’s streets are currently rated Fair (blue) or Poor (red).

The estimated cost to fix everything? $16.8 million. For context, the Town’s entire General Fund budget for 2026 was about $2.4 million. So, we have to be strategic.

Last night, Kremmling's Board of Trustees approved another $216K in paving using savings generated in 2025. This brings our total paving investment for 2026 to just over $276,000 - more than 10% of the Town’s original 2026 budget. The newest projects are:

✅ 2nd Street between Grand and Depot, as well as a half a block of Range Avenue - this stretch is beyond repair and needs a full repave.

✅ Kinsey Avenue between 3rd and 5th Streets - timed with developer work already happening there so we can stretch the Town’s dollars further.

Both projects should be completed before October 15th.

We’re also beginning the 2027 budget process, which includes looking at how much more we can invest in roads next year and what grant, state or federal funding may be available to help.

That's all for now, just wanted to give everyone an update! Happy to keep this type of info coming if it's helpful - just let us know what questions you might have 👍

🚨 BEAR UPDATE — PLEASE SHARE ⚠️

As many of you know, we’ve had a few bears in Town lately. One has become particularly problematic.

Over the last two nights, this bear has killed chickens and ducks and poked its head through a few open doors. These incidents have occurred in the vicinity of the tennis courts.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife has now set a trap for the bear and is asking residents to please:

☑️ Secure small animals, especially overnight.

☑️ Keep your doors closed and your homes secure, particularly if you live near the tennis courts.

❌ DO NOT approach the bear.

☑️ If the bear is on your property, you may scare it away only if you feel comfortable and can do so safely. Please use your own discretion and follow all applicable laws.

☑️ Call 911 if you encounter the bear and feel you are in danger.

There is no need to call CPW simply to report a sighting at this point. They are aware of the bear and actively working the situation.

For more information about bear safety, please contact CPW’s Hot Sulphur Springs office or visit:
https://cpw.state.co.us/state-wildlife-areas/hot-sulphur-springs-swa

Please secure your animals and close those doors tonight 🐻

MOSQUITO UPDATE: They're bad right now, we know 😵‍💫

We've called in reinforcements. Vector is laying down barrier treatment on the outskirts of Town and will bring in an extra truck for this week's fogging, which begins at 7:30 p.m. We've also asked them to hit the allies where possible as well.

It sounds like we may have had a hatch over the weekend. Combined with nearby hay cutting, that seems to have driven an extra batch of mosquitos our way.

Hang in there. Things should improve over the next day or two🤞

📢 Community Update: Upcoming Aerial Mosquito Spray

Hey everyone! We have an aerial flight scheduled for Wednesday, July 29th, in the morning, starting around 6:30 AM – 7:00 AM. 🚁✨

Successfully completing the aerial depends heavily on ground temperatures. If temps rise too quickly on Wednesday, we will need to pause the flight and finish the remainder on Thursday morning during the same time window (6:30 AM – 7:00 AM start).

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work around the weather!
