It’s not often we get to post about something this good but today is one of those times. Our department is the recipient of 3 Texas Forest Service 2604 grants totaling $215,000.00 !!!! The process started last November with the first two grants , then in February we received notice of the third grant. We received a grant for 25k for fire and rescue equipment, another for 25k for new bunker gear ( structural firefighting gear) and another for 165k for a brand new brush truck! To say we are all a little excited is an understatement especially because this is the first time we have had brand new gear in our 23 year history! Our Assistant Chief Maia Howard is showing off her new set below. These grants were part of 350 million dollars in cost share assistance to hundreds of Texas volunteer fire departments who desperately need this financial help! These are cost share grants so the departments still have to pay 5% of the cost of purchase and us as well as ALL the VFDs in Texas desperately need community support!
