Job Title: Office Assistant / Janitorial Support
Location: City Hall, City of Kooskia, Idaho
Position Type: Part Time - Open Until Filled
Compensation: Dependent on qualifications

Position Summary
The City of Kooskia is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented individual to fill the dual role of Office Assistant and Janitorial Support. This position performs general administrative, clerical, and reception duties to support municipal operations, alongside light janitorial and custodial responsibilities to ensure City Hall remains clean, safe, and welcoming for the public.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Administrative & Clerical: Greet office visitors, answer multi-line telephone inquiries, direct public traffic, and provide general information regarding city services and policies.
• Record Keeping: Assist with data entry, filing, processing routine paperwork, sorting mail, and maintaining municipal records and documents.
• Financial Support: Assist with routine utility billing support, receipt logging, and handling basic counter payments as needed.
• Janitorial Duties: Perform light daily and weekly custodial tasks, including sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping floors, emptying wastebaskets, sanitizing restrooms, cleaning glass, dusting office furniture, and maintaining general common areas.
• Supplies Management: Monitor and restock office supplies and janitorial inventory, reporting any facility maintenance needs to city leadership.
Qualifications and Skills
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience in a clerical, administrative, or customer service role.
• Basic knowledge of office equipment (computers, printers, multi-line phones, copy machines).
• Physical ability to perform light janitorial tasks, including standing, bending, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Strong communication skills and a professional, customer-service-oriented demeanor when interacting with the public.
• Must possess a valid Idaho driver's license.

June 17, 2026 -- The City once again conducted more work on well #3 and it may have that broke loose some mineral scaling which can cause discoloration in the water. If you experience cloudy water, please flush your line using a non-filtered faucet, such as a bathtub until it runs clear.
The cloudy water is not harmful, just aesthetically unpleasant. As a precaution the water is also being chlorinated until the issue resolves.

Unfortunately, the vandalism in the Kooskia City Park Restrooms continues. If you have any information that leads to the conviction of these individuals there is a $250 reward.

NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC
The City of Kooskia is once again experiencing unacceptable vandalism in the City Park restrooms. Recent incidents have included garbage and trash scattered throughout the facilities and placed in the toilets, f***s smeared on the floors and walls, and toilets intentionally clogged with wipes. This behavior is not only costly to clean and repair, but it also affects the cleanliness, safety, and availability of these facilities for everyone who uses them.
If this vandalism continues, the City may be forced to re-evaluate restroom operating hours, which could result in partial closures or other restrictions.
If you have any information regarding those responsible for this ongoing damage, please contact law enforcement at 208-983-1100, Ext. 0.
The City appreciates the community's understanding and cooperation as we work to keep our public facilities clean, safe, and accessible for residents and visitors alike.

Spring Clean-Up will continue through May 16th. Due to Simmons Sanitation pulling the roll-off containers one day early, residents will be allowed to take up to two loads per day, instead of the usual one load limit, to the Kooskia Drop-Off Site through Saturday, May 16, 2026.

SPRING CLEAN-UP

City of Kooskia Spring Clean-Up week has been set for May 1 thru May 11, 2026. Simmons Sanitation will place roll-off containers near the Kooskia City Park and in East Kooskia on Ping Street for your convenience. Appliances may be put in the containers however all other metal cut into 4 foot lengths. Brush and boards cut into 4 foot lengths. NO PESTICIDES, OIL, PAINTS, BATTERIES, CONCRETE, TRUCK OR EQUIPMENT TIRES!! Those items would need to be taken directly to the Transfer Station in Kamiah and the hours are 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. every day.
