TODAY IS THE DAY!!! Come on down for Smokey Bear's 82nd Birthday Party! Smokey has been temporarily reassigned from his Kenia Location due to the low Fire Danger on the mainland. This has allowed him to spend his Birthday with us on Kodiak and visit Family while on island. YES that is correct, Smokey has cousins on Kodiak! Smokey is staying with his Cousin "Kevin" pictured below walking past the Station a bit ago. While Kevin has expressed interest in following his Firefighting cousin Smokey in the service by joining BFD, he just doesn't have the time right now as he is a "subject matter expert" employee of Alaska Fish & Game on Island. Apparently "Kevin" knows a lot about the Salmon Fisheries??🙄
Games and Bounce House and Food. Cake and Singing Happy Birthday to Smokey at 3pm. Come get your picture with Smokey and Sparky the Fire Dog and have some fun at the Bayside Fire Station! 1pm to 4pm Today Sunday August 9th!

Good Morning Kodiak 😊 The BFD along with mutual aid partners will be conducting intensive training at our drill grounds at 4606 E Rezanof Drive. We will be on site from 9am to approximately 3pm. During that time access via vehicle to the dumpsters will be restricted. You will be able to safely park on Parkside and walk approximately 20 feet to the dumpsters, however due to water supply hose lines from the fire hydrant on Parkside by Rezanof being used and live fire training in the burn building, vehicle traffic will be restricted and the gates closed except to foot traffic to and from dumpsters. We thank the community for its understanding as we train current and recruit firefighters from BFD/KFD to be prepared to come to your assistance in time of need.
