University of Tennessee, Knoxville graduate and Randy “Komrade” Bresnik has been named the commander of NASA’s Artemis III mission, the next phase in the space agency’s plan to return humans to the moon.

Bresnik graduated from the Tickle College of Engineering in 2002 with a master’s degree in aviation systems from the University of Tennessee Space Institute. He has logged more than 7,000 hours in 95 types of aircraft. Since 2018, Bresnik has served as assistant to the chief of the Astronaut Office for exploration. Full story below! UT Knoxville Alumni

The University of Tennessee College of Nursing is pleased to welcome Dr. Vinciya Pandian as its next dean.

Dr. Pandian joins the college from Penn State University, where she serves as associate dean for graduate education and professor of nursing in the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing. She brings extensive experience in nursing education, research, and academic leadership, along with a distinguished record of advancing patient safety, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovation in clinical practice and education.

As the college continues to build on its momentum and impact, Dr. Pandian’s leadership will help advance our mission. We are excited for the vision, expertise, and energy she will bring to our community when she begins her role on July 1.
