Playing catch-up, but we couldn’t miss the opportunity to recognize Dr. Christie Estrada (PGY3)! 👏

In February, Dr. Estrada attended the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS) Annual Meeting, where she presented research she completed alongside our Chief Medical Examiner, Dr. Darinka Mileusnic, at the Knox County Regional Forensic Center. Their poster, “Drug Overdose Deaths in Knox County, Tennessee, Adults 65 and Over: A Retrospective Study,” highlighted important forensic research impacting our community.

And this feels like the perfect time to also congratulate Dr. Estrada on successfully matching into a Forensic Pathology Fellowship with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation! 🎉

We are so excited to watch your passion for forensic pathology continue to grow. Congratulations, Dr. Estrada!🔬

Big win for the backbone of our department 🥹✨

Our department truly wouldn’t run without her! Huge congratulations to our Program Manager, Ashley Capps, for being recognized as the best of the best and taking home the Graduate School of Medicine Excellence Award 🏆

She keeps everything running seamlessly (and somehow makes it look easy), and we are beyond lucky to have her. So, so proud of you, Ashley 🤍👏
