Big things are growing at local schools!

Keep Knoxville Beautiful recently completed new SchoolScapes projects at Vine Middle School and Adrian Burnett Elementary, transforming their campuses with vibrant, sustainable landscaping.

These spaces don’t just look great, they create welcoming environments, support student well-being, and give students and volunteers a chance to take pride in their school grounds.

Since launching in 2024, SchoolScapes has now helped bring these improvements to seven schools across Knoxville. We love seeing partnerships like this make such a visible difference in our community! 💚

The Office of Neighborhood Empowerment was happy to support Transportation Engineering at the District 2 Neighborhood Traffic Safety Program meeting. These meetings provide residents with an opportunity to learn more about traffic safety concerns in their neighborhoods and engage with City staff about potential solutions.

Our Spring 2026 Impact Report

In case you didn’t know, we stayed very busy this spring!

In Spring 2026, Trees Knoxville planted 873 trees and hosted 19 tree planting events with the help of 478 volunteers. That is more than 18,600 hours of volunteer participation.

While many of our plantings occur on public property, we also focus on getting trees directly into the hands of homeowners. This season, we provided 572 saplings to Knoxville residents through free tree giveaways.

Across the city, from the Knoxville Botanical Garden to Norris River Bluff Trail, we hosted over 8 events and provided more than 31 hours of educational programming to over 235 residents.

We also supported Knox County Schools through our planting efforts, with 47 trees going to:
Green Magnet Academy
Inskip Elementary
Lonsdale Elementary
Belle Morris Elementary
Adrian Burnett Elementary
Whittle Springs Middle School

This spring, more than 40 Volunteer Foresters gained hands-on experience in topics ranging from soil health to tree pruning. We are excited to continue building a strong network of tree stewards and deepening community connection to the natural world.

We were so thankful to work with Knoxville, and we are excited about more programming and more trees growing in the coming months. If you would like to support this work, consider making an in-kind donation here: https://treesknoxville.org/sponsor-a-program/
