Today, let us take a moment to observe National Purple Heart Day

Let us never forget and honor the U.S. service members who were wounded or gave their lives in combat. The Purple Heart, first established by General George Washington in 1782, is the nation’s oldest military award still presented today.

We pause in gratitude for the courage, sacrifice, and service of all who bear this medal.

Sharing this again! Steve had an amazing response to this and got quite a bit of wood but unfortunately he is in need of more again. If anyone can help him out that would be wonderful!! I would hate to see his amazing work have to stop.

It’s a simple request from a combat veteran who has crafted handmade tributes to thousands of fellow veterans in East Tennessee.

"I'm almost totally out of material. I'm down to less than 10 or 12 sticks to do, and I'll be out of business," Steve Newman said.
