We are no longer accepting things we cannot change. It is now time to change the things we cannot accept.
That is a twist on the Serenity Prayer. God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference.
That prayer has been helpful in my life when I faced a crisis that was out of my control. It has helped millions who have gone through AA and Alanon. It is good when you are facing personal struggles.
But sometimes in life acceptance of bad things is not the answer. Changing the condition to make it better is.
We are facing this right now in America. We are approaching the midterms on November 3. Midterms are inherently bad for the party in power. There is not as much impetus to get to the polls. Usually it works out ok.
This time is different.
The other side is not staying home. Progressive leftists and socialists are organizing and they are not shy about what they want. Sitting this one out is not serenity. It is a gift to them.
We are no longer battling Democrats. We are battling progressive leftists and socialists who want to bring down the Republic. They can call it democratic socialism all day long. In the end it is steps away from communism, which is what DSA leadership idolizes.
That is not a guess. David Jenkins of the Democratic Socialists of America's national leadership said, "Our goal is Communism." Their Red Star caucus put it in writing. Capitalism must be overthrown and replaced. The goal is to achieve communism.
They want the word democratic to make it sound safe. It does not.
The Constitution is not a suggestion. Limited government does not defend itself. Equal application of the law dies when people of good will stay home.
Acceptance is not enough. We need to fight for our country. That means we need to vote in November.
