Great news!!

Senate Bill 1716 was heard this morning by the Senate Finance, Ways and Means Revenue Subcommittee. This subcommittee is a vetting committee--they only forward bills to full committee with a positive or negative recommendation.

We're happy to report that the subcommittee voted to forward SB1716 to the full Senate Finance Committee with a NEGATIVE recommendation. Big THANK YOU to Senators Dickerson, Haile, and Overbey for siding with us. And major kudos to all of you who signed the petition and contacted your legislators. This is advocacy in action!

We won this battle, but the war is far from over. Now is the time to keep up the heat! The House version of the bill (HB1650) will be heard tomorrow by the House Transportation Subcommittee, and will likely be heard by the full Senate Finance Committee next week.

If you haven't signed the petition or contacted members of these committees yet, please do so now: http://bit.ly/1mIkdcO

Moving in the right direction; on the bike cameras are the best for providing evidence that a vehicle passed too close.
Maybe Knoxville will follow Chattanooga by providing bike officers with devices that measure the vehicle passing distance.
