Our third New Farmer Academy class is in the books! We had an excellent day visiting Beardsley Community Farm and Richard and Brenda Neal’s farm in Heiskell. We have had a fabulous group that has been meeting once a month since March, and we have had a blast gaining a variety of hands-on experience and covering a wide array of relevant and contemporary farming topics. If you would like to be added to our interest list for our Class of 2027 New Farmer’s Academy, please contact Lynnsey Fox at 865-215-2379 or [email protected].

We just recently finished the second of our six New Farmer Academy classes for 2026!

This course is great for those who are new to agriculture, interested in agricultural entrepreneurship, looking to transition from another field such as military service or private-sector work, or those looking for a post-retirement opportunity.

We cover a wide range of topics, including business planning, farm and pasture management, marketing, regulations, fruit and vegetable crops, small-scale production, agri-tourism, and more!

We also offer excellent hands-on learning opportunities as we visit local farms. Examples include drip irrigation, plasticulture, fencing installation and repair, sprayer calibration, and equipment operation and safety.

If you are interested in joining our 2027 New Farmer Academy class, give us a call at 865-215-2340!
