Your moment may be approaching.

The skies over Marion County appear to be preparing for a most scandalous evening. A gathering of strong to severe thunderstorms is expected to arrive tonight, and unlike the social season, this event comes with absolutely no dress code and even fewer manners.

Among the expected attendees are flash flooding, large hail, damaging wind gusts, and a potential tornado who, as always, was not invited but may choose to make an appearance anyway.

Those who received generous portions of rain on Thursday night should pay particularly close attention. Urban areas may experience flash flooding, and local rivers may decide they would quite like additional real estate. Areas receiving the heaviest rainfall could see river flooding become part of the weekend entertainment schedule.

Lady Whistledown strongly recommends locating your weather alerts, charging your devices, and ensuring your emergency plans are not stored somewhere between last year's Christmas decorations and that treadmill currently serving as a clothing rack.

As for the inflatable unicorn... keep it on standby. We are not saying you will need it. We are simply saying this weather pattern has the decision-making skills of a squirrel crossing the highway.

And before anyone asks no, your pickup truck is not a boat. No matter how confident it feels.
