TREK South was originally conceived as a hiking group that would help spread the word about South Knoxville’s many parks and wild areas. Our scope has broadened since then – now TREK south seeks to promote all areas of South Knoxville including parks, businesses, restaurants, historic sites, and of course, wild areas.

Okay TREKkers, join us for our December Hike at Fort Dickerson on Sunday, December 17, from 1-3 p.m. Meet at the Augusta Street Entrance. It is a gravel lot. We will hike the new trails on the right side of the quarry up to the top and back down again. Hiking sticks are helpful. Don't forget water and a snack.

Hello trekkers, Are you ready for the next hike? We will be hiking Sharp's Ridge Veterans Memorial Park on Sunday, November 19, from 1-3 p.m. From Broadway, turn on Ludlow, continue on Sharp's Ridge Memorial Park Drive to the very top. Park all the way at the end of the park's driveway. We will hike down the middle trails and back up to the top. Wear good hiking boots (or shoes) and hiking poles are highly recommended. Don't forget water! See you all Sunday.

Ok, trekkers, our next hike is planned for Sunday, October 15, from 2:00 p.m. until about 4:30 or 5:00. The time change is due to the new venue....We are hiking House Mountain, 9601 Hogskin Rd, Corryton, TN 37721. This can be difficult in spots. It is uphill for about an hour over rocks, then we will walk the ridge, and then come back down over more rocks. Although it is rough in parts, the views are beautiful. Hiking poles and good hiking boots are highly recommended. Don't forget a snack and water. Hope to see you all there!

SAVE THE DATE: Sunday, Sept. 17, from 1-3 p.m. will be our next hike! We will meet at Mead's Quarry at Ijams Nature Center and hike the Tharp Trace Trail around the quarry! It is a steep hike up and then we have to come down. Hiking polls are highly recommended. Don't forget water and a snack. See you all there!
