America is Beautiful.

Not because of our economy, or the scenery. Not because of our politics or freedom.

America is beautiful because our Founding Fathers dreamed of a country made up of many. It’s in our national motto: “E pluribus unum” … out many, one!

America is beautiful because of the people. America is strong because those people work, serve in the military, serve in government from school board to the White House, and so much more. We are not perfect, in fact, we are still as Jefferson called us the, “American Experiment.”

We forget that 248 years ago the notion that a people could govern themselves was unheard of. Yet, here we are nearly a quarter of a millennium later proving that WE THE PEOPLE can. Our Republic has survived wars, strife, the stain of slavery, depressions, and corruption, yet we still stand.

On this July 4th 248th anniversary let us not think of things that separate us, but rather things that unite us. “One Nation, Under God, indivisible…”.

It is our responsibility to ensure that not ourselves, but those that follow, our kids, grandkids, and great grandchildren…those we may never meet, are handed a country that has been taken care of to ensure future generations are able to live in freedom, security, and prosperity, otherwise we have failed them and we have failed the generations before us. Let us resolve together to pledge our “lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor,” just as our founding fathers did!

Happy Independence Day!

What kind of world are we creating when a kid can’t play in their yard, be in their house/car or walk down the street with their dad without someone shooting, or attacking them or a loved one?

Cannon Hinnant was 5, playing in his yard when, alleged, his neighbor shot him for no apparent reason. (I say alleged because in this country you are innocent until proven guilty)

Secoriea Turner, an 8-year-old girl was gunned down when her family’s car was stopped in Atlanta by violence seeking individuals seeking to hijack the peaceful protests there.

20-month-old Sincere Gaston was gunned down in his car while riding with his mom in a Chicago. That same weekend 8 children in Chicago were killed.

There are those that will blame the gun. But the gun was in the hand of a person with a brain intent on killing someone. We need to stop demonizing our police. YES, we need to hold any officer accountable for excessive use of force that isn’t justified, but our community leaders, politicians, parents all need to stand shoulder-to-shoulder and let these criminals know that we will NOT tolerate their actions. That they cannot have our communities or children, and that we will prosecute them, regardless of race, to the fullest extent of the law and justice WILL be served.

Now is the time for neighbor to stand with neighbor and stem the tide of anarchy that is destroying this county and destroying lives.

Ok, the TNDOE has unveiled a handy web based meal finder to assist any student in Tennessee with where they can pick up their school lunch meals during this COVID-19 lockdown.

No child should go hungry because of this tragedy and our public schools, private businesses and individuals have all stepped up in a way that makes you proud to be a Tennessean and an American.

Together, we can keep the alive!

I saw this online this morning. Y’all let’s think about those in our community that don’t have as much and let’s all act like Tennesseans and “Love Thy Neighbor.” We can show the rest the world just WHO the real Tennessee Volunteers are. Let’s live out Matthew22:39.

10 years since this decade started. We’ve lost a lot of loved ones, but in that same decade my son was born, my family grew and God’s blessings have shown in every step. Looking forward to what He has in store for the 20’s! Bring on 2020.

I grabbed lunch yesterday and decided to go vote in the upcoming City elections. I was in an out in 4 minutes. Please go vote if you live in the City of Knoxville.

After voting I ran into Amy Midis who is running at-large and Kevin Faddis with the Knoxville Fire Fighters Association where we had a chance to catch up and talk about many of the issues facing our Fire Fighters and First Responders.

I truly believe that Knoxville is sitting on the cusp of incredible growth, and we need leaders that will work as hard as former Governor Haslam to make sure that Knoxville is growing and thriving. Having a mayor with a mindset of what businesses deal with will help the City recruit high paying employers to Knoxville. Someone who understands the issues of the Alice Bell, Burlington, Inskip, Sequoyah Hills, Bearden, Cedar Bluff, South Knoxville and every other neighborhood community is paramount as each they each have similar but different needs.

It won't take you long, but let's go vote! If you have any questions regarding any of the candidates, email them, call them, they will answer your questions.
