Thank you Knoxville Police Department for reminding residents and visitors about the importance of driving sober to keep all road users safe.

As part of an ongoing effort to prevent drunk driving and remove intoxicated drivers from the streets, KPD officers and staff conducted a sobriety checkpoint last night in the 8200 block of Kingston Pike.

The checkpoint resulted in two arrests for driving under the influence, one for public intoxication and multiple citations.

Please do your part to help keep the roads as safe as possible. Slow down, buckle up, pay attention and never get behind the wheel while under the influence.

The survey on Magnolia Avenue intersection improvements is still open! https://www.knoxvilletn.gov/cms/One.aspx?portalId=109562&pageId=21266490

We're excited to move ahead on safety improvements on Magnolia Avenue, funded by USDOT grants. Intersections at Cherry (shown), Hembree, and Castle streets have been identified as priorities due to a notably high incidence of severe crashes and pedestrian activity. We want to hear from neighbors, shoppers, workers and other visitors in this corridor.

• Take the survey online (link in first comment)
• Share your insights on where crossing dangers exist at these intersections.
• Help us prioritize the infrastructure improvements that will make you feel safe to walk and cross at the intersections.
