Park City: An Urban Oasis

The original Park City, Tennessee, was founded in 1907 and operated independently until it was annexed by the City of Knoxville in 1917. This page embraces all of East Knoxville in the name Park City because of the deep connections between neighborhoods and history on this side of town. The name is still apt today because the community is rich in parks. Stretching like an emerald string of jewels, the parks of Park City encircle some of Knoxville’s most charming historic neighborhoods and include: Caswell Park, Harriet Tubman Park, Dr. Walter Hardy Park, Morningside Park, Alex Haley Heritage Park, Knoxville Botanical Gardens & Arboretum, Chilhowee Park, Zoo Knoxville and Holston River Park. Plus, pocket parks enjoyed by neighborhood residents and visitors. We are also home to historic cemeteries perfect for leisurely strolls, including Odd Fellows Cemetery, Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Bethel Cemetery, and Beth El Old Jewish Cemetery.

This page is intended to help visitors and residents “see” Park City and all the treasures it contains, both now and in the past. Its vibrant future is being built on a deep foundation of history, civic pride, and diversity. So, please share your memories, photos and what’s going on today in Park City so everyone can “See Park City.” And don’t forget to invite your friends and family to join us here!
