Legacy Parks Foundation Leaving East Tennessee better than we found it!
(1)

Legacy Parks Foundation works to assure that our community enjoys exceptional recreational opportunities, natural beauty and open spaces, and that those assets exist for generations to come. Since 2007, the Foundation has raised $11 million in private dollars for parks and open space, helped conserve 1,000 acres of forest and farmland in East Tennessee and added nearly 600 acres of parkland in Kno

x County. Outdoor Knoxville and the Knoxville Urban Wilderness are two initiatives launched by Legacy Parks which promote outdoor recreation as an integral component to the health and economic vitality of our community.

It was a beautiful day to officially launch the SoKno Rail Trail & Art Walk with the reveal of the first public art installation on a train caboose!

The 3.8-mile rail corridor stretching from Chapman Highway to Ijams Nature Center will be transformed into a soft-surface multi-use trail that includes a 1.5-mile Art Walk, blending outdoor recreation with public art.

Thanks to the many partners that are making this project come to life! The art walk is anticipated to open this fall.
