🎶Pride Marches to Neyland! 🏈🍊

With three straight weekends of football in Neyland, there will be plenty of opportunities to experience some of Tennessee’s greatest game day traditions.

One of those is to share in the excitement by seeing the The University of Tennessee Bands - Pride of the Southland Band on its march to Neyland Stadium!

📍 Saturday Schedule
🕕 March Begins: 6:05 p.m.
📍 Starting Location: Pat Head Summitt Street

The Pride will march: ➡️ Left onto Volunteer Boulevard
➡️ Across the Johnson-Ward Pedestrian Walkway ("The Bridge")
➡️ Into Neyland Stadium through Gate 25

🎺 Salute to the Hill
Be sure to catch this special tradition at the corner of Volunteer Boulevard and the entrance to the Johnson-Ward Pedestrian Walkway before the band continues its march to the stadium.

👥 Fans are encouraged to line the route, cheer on the band, and follow the Pride as they bring the energy and spirit of Tennessee football to Neyland Stadium.

Today, on the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, we pause to remember and honor the lives forever changed by the attacks on our nation.

Twenty-five years ago, our country faced an unimaginable act of terror. In the darkness that followed, we witnessed extraordinary courage, compassion, and selflessness. First responders ran toward danger. Ordinary Americans stepped forward to help. Communities came together, reminding us of the strength and resilience of the American spirit.

Today, we remember the innocent lives taken too soon, the brave heroes who gave their lives trying to save others, and the countless first responders, service members, volunteers, and survivors who carried the lasting physical and emotional scars of that day. We also honor those who later lost their lives to illnesses connected to their service and sacrifice in the aftermath.

May we never forget their names, their courage, or the sacrifices made on September 11 and in the years that followed.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

This morning, members of Public Safety and UTPD joined University of Tennessee Air Force ROTC Det. 800, University of Tennessee Army ROTC and Tennessee Athletics at Neyland Stadium for the Memorial Stair Climb.

With each step, we honored the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, and remembered the courage, sacrifice and service of the first responders who ran toward danger to help others.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember. We climb in honor of those we lost, in gratitude for those who served, and with a commitment to never forget.

Sometimes the night shift, out on patrol, gives you a glimpse of something that means more than words can really explain.

A simple “thank you.”
A moment of kindness from a stranger.
A flag flying in the darkness.
A reminder of the people who made the ultimate sacrifice and the freedoms we’re still blessed to have.

On nights like this, you get to witness little moments that carry a lot of meaning—especially on days like Patriot Day, when we pause to remember, honor, and never forget.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Knox County Sheriff Tom Spangler.

Sheriff Spangler dedicated decades of his life to serving the people of Knox County with commitment and passion. His dedication to public service extended beyond our community, as he also proudly served our country as a member of the U.S. Air Force.

We honor Sheriff Spangler’s legacy of service and his lasting contributions to the safety and well-being of our community. Our deepest and most heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends, the men and women of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, and all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Be responsible and prioritize your safety and the safety of others around you. Get a designated driver, use public transportation, or utilize rideshare services to ensure you arrive home safely.

Use patience in traffic as you make your way from the stadium, and make your way around campus carefully.

We are closing in on kick-off, ready for the Vols to take on Furman Rocky Top! Many of our officers & partner agencies are in high-vis attire so you can easily spot us if you need help — we’re here for you!

The excitement is high, but so are the temperatures! ☀️🔥 A Heat Advisory is in effect for our area today

💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day

🧴 Don’t forget the sunscreen

🧢 Wear light, breathable clothing and take breaks in the shade or A/C when you can

Vol Walk has been canceled.

Severe Weather is approaching the area. Gates 9 and 21 have been opened for fans inside the screened perimeter. Anyone outside the screened perimeter is encouraged to take shelter in the Student Union and the Food City Center.
