You are cordially invited to attend our upcoming Fish Fry event, scheduled to take place on Friday, June 12th, at the Knox City Country Club. Serving will commence at 5:00 PM and will continue until all available plates are sold. Each plate, priced at $15, will include a serving of fish, hand-cut fries, coleslaw, and hush puppies. Additionally, complimentary shirts will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. All proceeds will go towards a new brush truck and new bunker gear.

It’s time for our fish fry. Come join us out at the Knox City Country Club on Friday June 12, 2026 from 5 pm until sold out. Plates are $15 each and will include fish, fries, coleslaw and hush puppies. You can dine in or stay and eat at the country club. There will be shirts given out until we run out (first come first serve).

* At 913 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 8 miles southwest of Goodlett to 7 miles west of Crowell to 3 miles southwest of Gilliland to near Munday, moving northeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD: 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE: Radar indicated.

IMPACT: Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

I've been clearing the golf course for 17 years, and I can't tell you how many times I've had to go out on the golf course and beg people to come off and they still stay out there when severe weather is imminent. Since we've had the horn, I have not had that conversation.

Due to insufficient participation, the Cook Off event has been rescheduled and reformatted as a Fish Fry. The Knox City Fire Department will host the Fish Fry on Friday, June 12th, 2026, from 5:00 pm until sold out at the Knox City Country Club. Each plate, priced at $15, will include fish, fries, coleslaw, and hush puppies, and will be available for dine-in or carry-out. Additionally, a limited quantity of shirts will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. All proceeds will go towards a new brush truck and PPE gear.

***SEVERE WEATHER INFORMATION***

Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of Southeast Kansas Much of Oklahoma Western North Texas

- Effective this Friday afternoon and evening from 250 PM until 1000 PM CDT.

- Primary threats include: Scattered large hail likely with isolated very large hail events to 2 inches in diameter possible Scattered damaging winds and isolated significant gusts to 75 mph possible.

- Scattered severe thunderstorms are forecast to develop this afternoon. The stronger storms will likely evolve into supercells capable of a risk for large hail (mainly 1 to 2 inches in diameter) and severe gusts. Upscale growth into a band of storms is expected by this evening with the risk for severe gusts expected to increase. Peak gusts with the stronger outflow surges will probably range 60 to 75 mph.
