We were up early to start our trek! Thankful for no snow and decent roads back to Anchorage in the dark. Caught the milk run and made it as far as Ketchikan. Overnighting with family and then home on the ferry tomorrow! We had the best time this last week and already can’t wait for next year.

Today’s classes included thermal imaging, drones in the fire service and modern firefighting training programs. We got to watch some friends compete in a firefighter combat challenge and then we gathered one last time for our banquet. The food this week was outstanding and tonight was no different. Kenai, we thank you! begin our trek home in the morning!

No pictures from yesterday because we were in classes all day. We learned about Lithium battery emergency responses, hazmat, traffic incident management, foreground accountability, tactical decision making. Last night was F.O.O.L.S night. We got a chance to hang out with our friends, making connections, having fun and remembering our lost brothers and sisters. This morning we are back in classes before the firefighter challenge and the banquet tonight.

New Search and Rescue equipment! We love getting new gear, getting it set up and training to better serve our community! Our new mono-wheel stokes basket will help us be able to transport patients over rough terrain from places our ambulance can’t reach. Interested in volunteering? We are always looking for more volunteers. We meet every 2nd and 4th Wednesday at 6pm.

On the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, we reflect on the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the extraordinary bravery of the first responders and citizens who ran toward danger to save others.
We extend our deepest gratitude to our officers and to all first responders across the nation. Every day, you answer calls for service — big and small — with professionalism, courage, and compassion. You stand ready to act without hesitation in moments of crisis or disaster, committed to protecting lives and supporting your communities.
Your dedication carries forward the legacy of those heroes we lost, reminding us of the strength and unity that rose from tragedy.
We remember.
We stand together.

Klawock Volunteer Fire Department would like to take a moment to thank the community of Klawock and Prince of Wales for their support! With donations over the last couple of years we were able to purchase stabilizing equipment that will allow us to do our jobs in a safer manner! Check out the photos below from our drills where we practiced utilizing this important equipment! Interested in volunteering? Show up to a drill night the 2nd/4th Wednesdays each month or reach out to one of our volunteers! Thank you Eagle Enterprises and Rob Bentler for always getting us what we need!
