Congratulations Class 44!

Our 4 newest probationary firefighters celebrated the completion of their new hire orientation training with a class family dinner, a department tradition to enjoy an evening of food and fellowship before they report for their first shifts in the field. Firefighters took the oath of service and were officially "pinned" with their first badge by Deputy Chief Jon Haskett.

Please join us in wishing Class 44 the best of luck as they begin their fire service careers with OSCFR!

To cap off , we had the opportunity to present a very special award to several of our personnel. Firefighters Roberto Valladares and Vijay Vollman were awarded our inaugural Stork Award in recognition of their exceptional work providing high-quality EMS care during one of the most significant and special cases we see: the delivery of a healthy baby in the field.

To celebrate their outstanding work and commemorate the occasion, Rescue 83 has been affixed with a special firefighter stork decal that will remain on the apparatus for the entirety of its service with the department. EMS Rescue apparatus involved in future deliveries will also receive a decal, highlighting the incredible privilege our personnel have to provide care and comfort for mom and baby during those most precious moments.

EFFECTIVE MAY 21, 2026
Following extended dry conditions, A burn ban is now in effect for residents of unincorporated Osceola County. A burn ban is issued as a measure to reduce community wildfire risk when environmental conditions make the local area especially susceptible to wildfire hazards.
While a burn ban is in effect, open outdoor burning of any kind is prohibited. This includes:
🔥 Campfires
🔥 Fire pits and pit-based grills
🔥 Trash burning
🔥 Any ground-based burning
🔥 Discharging fireworks
The burn ban will remain in effect until local conditions, as measured by the Keetch-Byram Drought Index (KBDI), have improved for a period of 7 days.
For more information, please visit fire.osceola.org and click on the “Current Local Conditions” page.
