🚓👮‍♀️ THE KIRTLAND BEAT ~ August 2026 🚔👮

Here’s your August snapshot of activity handled by the Kirtland Police Department.

During August, KPD recorded 1,021 calls for service and officer-initiated CAD activities throughout the community.

A large portion of that activity was proactive, including:

• 293 Business Checks
• 175 Traffic Stops
• 108 Targeted Traffic Enforcement activities
• 92 Extra Patrol Checks
• 67 Follow-Up Investigations

Other activity included community assistance, suspicious activity and public-order calls, property-related incidents, welfare checks, juvenile complaints and other police services.

As a reminder, CAD classifications reflect how activity is documented in our dispatch system and do not necessarily mean a crime occurred, an arrest was made or charges were filed. Follow-up investigations may also represent continued work on previously reported incidents rather than 67 new crimes.

We hope The Kirtland Beat continues to give residents a better look at the work being done every day throughout our community.

Today, we recognize and thank the women who proudly serve in law enforcement. Your courage, professionalism, compassion, and commitment to protecting and serving your communities make a lasting difference every day.

We thank you, Ptl Atterbury, Ptl Phillips, Ptl DeWolf and Ptl Beacon for your service, sacrifice, and dedication.

We salute the women who wear the badge and the example you set for the next generation. 💙

A heartfelt thank-you to the Lakeland Veterans Center at Lakeland Community College for providing our department with these thoughtful refresher kits. We truly appreciate your generosity, your support, and your commitment to honoring the memory of those we lost on September 11, 2001.

🇺🇸 We Remember. We Honor. We Will Never Forget.

Today, KPD joins our community and our nation in solemn remembrance of the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We honor the innocent lives taken too soon, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the countless acts of courage, compassion, and sacrifice witnessed on that day and in the days that followed.

We also give thanks for those who continue to answer the call to serve, our law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical professionals, members of our Armed Forces, dispatchers, and all who dedicate themselves to protecting our communities and our nation.

As a community of faith, may we continue to pray for the families who carry the loss of September 11, for those whose lives and health were forever changed, and for every man and woman who stands watch over others today.

May God comfort those who mourn, strengthen those who serve, and guide our nation toward unity, peace, and compassion.

We remember the fallen.
We honor the heroes.
We pray for those who serve.
We will never forget.

A couple of weeks after receiving a warm Kirtland welcome, K9 Beacon of Hope made it official at last night’s City Council meeting! Beacon was formally sworn in and is ready to serve. We’re proud to have this special pup as part of our team and community! 🐾🐕‍🦺💙🙏
