What started as a classroom conversation about service learning turned into something extraordinary at Westchester Elementary. ❤️
Fifth-grade students in Cindy Voller’s class raised more than $2,800 for Make-A-Wish through bake sales, classroom collections and other student-led fundraisers. The students used the money to purchase gifts directly from children’s wish lists to help grant wishes for kids facing critical illnesses.
We are so proud of their compassion, teamwork, and commitment to helping others!

What a whirlwind of a last week at WE!! There were so many wonderful end of the year traditions--Field Day (big thanks to our PE teachers and parent volunteers), 5th Grade Fun Day, 5th Grade/Staff Kickball Game, celebrating our wonderful retirees Mrs. Hanrahan, Dr. Simmons and Mrs. Caskey, the car parade following the 5th Grade Graduation ceremony and finally, staff waving farewell to the buses at the end of the last day! Hope everyone has a fantastic, restful summer! See you back at WE in August! Good luck at NKMS and beyond, 5th graders!

Kirkwood Schools were well represented at the VEX World Championships this year in St. Louis! Our two elementary schools that participated did very well on challenge matches, skills, and working with alliance partners from around the world. One of the teams used Google Translate to assist with strategy planning with teams from Japan and China. Overall, the two teams placed in the middle of their divisions - for their first time, they made us so proud with their perseverance and genuine love of robotics!
