The Club of was saddened to learn of the passing of longtime Club member Harvey B. Young, Sr., this past Friday, January 14th, 2022, in his home, at the age of 102. A pillar of the Kirksville community, Harvey served the Club as Treasurer for many years, and is half of the namesake of the Kiwanis Playground in Honor of S**g Grossnickle and Harvey Young (the Kiwanis Inclusive Playground) at the Adair County Family YMCA. Harvey was a member of Kiwanis for 75 years, joining the Club in 1946 after returning home from the Second World War. When the ribbon was cut for the Kiwanis Inclusive Playground on August 10th, 2016, Harvey was the first one down the slide. Rest in peace, Harvey.

Don’t miss the 2nd anniversary celebration of the Playground in Honor of S**g Grossnickle and Harvey Young, an inclusive playground, TODAY from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM!

The public is invited to attend the celebration, which will take place at the playground pavilion adjacent to the Adair County Family YMCA at 1708 S. Jamison St. The playground will be available to everyone, and the Kiwanis Club will provide free cake, balloons, and ice water for all attendees!
