State of the County Address this morning at the EDA building. The Health Department, the Public Library, SB40, and the County Commission presented highlights from the past year.

Work should begin in August! Folks have been waiting a long time on the completion of these projects…. It is expected to be finished in June 2027! So glad BNSF if finally moving forward. 🚂 🚂 🚂

Spent the morning at the Capital testifying on HB-2243. Trying to get the Use Tax exemption reversed for solar, wind, mining…etc. These exemptions are hurting Adair County! Thanks to Representative Wolfin for sponsoring the bill and Presiding Commissioner Jim Scaggs Iron County for leading the effort.

Attended Northeast Regional Meeting in Canton, MO today with Clerks and Commissioners from 13 counties. Multiple organizations spoke: Missouri Farmers Care, MoDot, Dept of Conservation, and legislative representatives. Always good to hear what’s happening in other counties!

SB 3 is on the ballot April 7. You get one vote but you are actually voting on 4 separate issues. (This was the bill to keep the Chiefs in Missouri)

1. Tax credits for certain sporting events
2. SHOW-ME sports investment act
3. Tax credit for Homestead damage
4. Property tax credit

These were all lumped together with the hope enough people would support it.

FYI……There are lawsuits already filed against this bill working thru the courts

Attended a state tax hearing in Macon Wednesday evening. There was a large turnout. They’ve been holding meetings all across the state.
