This afternoon, 9/3/26, a small fire broke out in the concessions stand at Spainhower Stadium. The fire was safely extinguished and no one was injured. No school buildings, classes, students, or staff were impacted.

We will maintain our full game and event schedule for this evening, 9/3/26, and Friday, 9/4/26. We will be serving a limited menu of Polanzas and drinks at Spainhower.

We appreciate the quick response from our maintenance staff and the Kirksville Fire Department.

Mr. Bach’s construction trades students are putting together these mock rulers using 2x4 pieces to represent each sixteenth. Great way to demonstrate their understanding of measuring as they prepare to get back out to their job site. Plus, they plan to pass on the finished product to our ECLC so that our youngest learners can use them to interact with measuring and fractions.

On this bright, sunny day, Mr. Alter’s eighth-grade science classes put their engineering skills to the first test of the school year. The students had their group-designed and handcrafted solar ovens outside, measuring just how hot they could get during class.

Mrs. Tharp and her fifth graders doing some power writing. Someone in class gets to choose one word and that becomes the prompt. Mrs. Tharp says, “Go!” Highly motivated, the students write as much as they can about that word until the timer goes off. They are each trying to outdo their previous records for number of words written. Mrs. Tharp even writes and tries to beat her own record.

Good work, fifth graders and Mrs. Tharp!

Sometimes teachers go to class, too. Last week, speaker and author Chase Mielke was here working with our staff.
