Did you know that the JHS Counseling Department has their own Instagram page? You can follow them here .hs.counseling

Here is a repost of their most recent post, explaining a few changes coming to their department this year:
“While we’ve been transitioning toward this model for a few years, students and families are going to start seeing more of what a Comprehensive School Counseling Program actually looks like at JHS.

Following Washington State House Bill 5030 ✅️

Aligned with ASCA professional standards ✅

More time directly serving ALL students ✅

More prevention, classroom lessons & individual student planning ✅

Less time spent on scheduling, email, and being a customer service desk ✅

That last one might take some getting used to. 😉

School counselors are here to support students’ academic, social/emotional, and post-high-school development.

Sometimes that means we’re in classrooms. Sometimes we’re meeting 1:1 with students. Sometimes we’re working behind the scenes to remove barriers.

And sometimes it means your email is going to have to marinate for a minute.

Different? Yep. Less available to students? Quite the opposite.

We’re putting our time where it matters most: with students.
Welcome to the JHS Comprehensive School Counseling Program. ✌️”

Back to school means back to school PICTURES! On Wednesday, September 2nd (this is a full school day) ALL staff and students will be getting their 2026-2027 pictures taken. In order to make this event run smoothly we need your help.

JHS is asking for adult volunteers to help direct staff and students and provide them with their name card. Please look at the available time slots and sign up where you can help. ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST BE LWSD APPROVED VOLUTEERS. Volunteering in LWSD - Lake Washington School District to check your status and apply to be approved.
