🐦‍⬛Is your student a Rising Raven (incoming 9th grader for the 2026-27 school year)? Be sure to mark your calendar for Flight School!

👥: All incoming 9th grade students (Class of 2030)
📆: Thursday, August 27, from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
📍: Meet outside the JHS Fieldhouse

What is Flight School?
Flight School is Juanita High School’s 9th Grade Orientation. This student-led experience is designed to help freshmen transition smoothly into high school.

During the morning, students will:
👋Meet their Link Leaders (trained upperclassmen mentors)
👩🧑Get to know their new classmates
😄Participate in fun team-building challenges
🏫Take a tour of the JHS campus
💁🏾Hear from Link Leaders about “what every ninth grader should know”
👕Have an opportunity to purchase Raven Gear at the Student Store
👩‍🏫Become familiar with school routines, expectations, and spaces

Why Attend? We strongly encourage all incoming freshmen to attend this important and fun event! Flight School gives 9th graders a chance to:
😊Feel more comfortable and prepared for high school
🪢Make early connections with peers and mentors
🏃‍♀️‍➡️Get a “head start” before the building fills with all students

This will be an activity-filled morning! Students should come with:
🍫Snacks
💧Water
🩳Comfortable loose-fitting clothes
👟Comfortable footwear

Juanita Theater in the JHS Performing Arts Center is inviting ALL STUDENTS to explore and learn technical skills in operating lighting and soundboards, as well as stage operations and video recording for live events. Plus, they're offering the chance to work in an engaging role during rental events, primarily taking place on weekends.

They're looking for students with an interest in film recording and live streaming. Students will have an opportunity to try out different roles.

No experience? No problem! Training will be provided, and students will always be working alongside a professional adult.

Payment Details: Students who are already in the LWSD payment system will earn $17.13 per hour. New students will need to apply with parental authorization. Volunteering options are also available for those interested.
