📢 IMPORTANT TIME CHANGE FOR OUR DRIVE-IN MOVIE NIGHT!

We've adjusted the movie start time from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM to create the best possible drive-in movie experience. With sunset not occurring until around 8:30 PM, waiting a little longer means darker skies, a brighter screen, and a much more enjoyable movie under the stars!

Before you head to the movie, make an evening of it and support our local Main Street businesses! 🍔🌮🍕 Stop by one of Kiowa's restaurants for dinner, grab a sweet treat, or pick up snacks before making your way to the movie. Your support helps keep our local businesses thriving and makes events like this possible.

Then load up the car, gather your family and friends, bring your blankets and lawn chairs, and enjoy a classic drive-in experience from the comfort of your vehicle.

We are excited to announce our 2026-2027 Building Excellent Schools Today (BEST) Grant recipients who will receive a total of $231 million to support safe and modern learning environments across Colorado! Congratulations to the first ten recipients:

We are incredibly honored and excited to announce that the Town of Kiowa has been awarded our FULL FUNDING request of $993,738 from Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) for transformational improvements to both of our community parks.

On behalf of the Town of Kiowa, we extend our deepest gratitude to Great Outdoors Colorado and especially Sammie Trotter, GOCO Program Officer, for her guidance, encouragement, and belief in our vision throughout this process. This investment reflects GOCO's commitment to creating vibrant, accessible outdoor spaces that strengthen communities and improve quality of life for Colorado residents.

This funding will allow us to bring to life significant improvements at both Nordman Park and Fawn Valley Park, creating recreational opportunities that will benefit residents of Elbert County and El Paso County alike.

Nordman Park Improvements
✅ A new regionally accessible splash pad, providing a destination recreation amenity for families throughout the region
✅ New ADA-accessible playground
✅ Large pavilion with electrical service
✅ Permanent ADA-accessible restroom facilities
✅ Additional seating and landscaping enhancements

Fawn Valley Park Improvements
✅ Large pavilion with electrical service
✅ New parking area accommodating approximately 20 vehicles, including ADA-accessible spaces
✅ New basketball court
✅ New sod and irrigation systems creating vibrant green space for soccer, youth sports practices, and community activities
✅ Permanent ADA-accessible restroom facilities
✅ Landscaping enhancements
✅ Revitalization of the sand volleyball area

This award represents one of the most significant investments in Kiowa's parks and recreation system in recent years. The addition of a regionally accessible splash pad, enhanced recreational amenities, expanded gathering spaces, and improved accessibility will make Kiowa an even stronger destination for families and outdoor recreation. These improvements will serve residents throughout Elbert County and El Paso County while creating lasting opportunities for recreation, community events, youth activities, and healthy lifestyles for generations to come.

Thank you to GOCO, Sammie Trotter, our project partners, Town staff, Board of Trustees, Kiowa Main Street, Kiowa Schools, Kiowa Lion’s Club, ECCO, and community members whose collaboration and support helped make this achievement possible. This is our 4th year of raising funds for the Kiowa High School’s basketball program! We love our tiny hometown and this is such a FUN event!!
