117 MPH in a 35 MPH zone!! This just one of the many extreme speeds our camera has captured.

The question is this: Should someone be able to get away with driving 82 mph over the speed limit just because some people don’t like speed cameras or atleast given a citation of $100?

Dear Kinston Police Department, North Carolina,
Thank you for alerting us that our traffic citations have apparently been crossing state lines and causing administrative confusion. We were unaware our paperwork had achieved that level of independence.

While we appreciate you serving as the unintended call center for misplaced motorists, we assure you we are not attempting to run a multistate fine collection experiment. If we were, there would be grant funding, matching patches, and at least six meetings about what to name it.

For the record — and in defense of both literacy and toner cartridges — citations issued by the Kinston Police Department in Kinston, Alabama clearly displays three separate contact phone numbers along with our Kinston, Alabama mailing address. At this stage, we are confident the issue is not a lack of information, but a bold nationwide commitment to reading only the first word on a document and then winging it.

We apologize that your staff has been involuntarily enrolled in our “Introduction to Southeastern Geography” outreach program. Please feel free to advise callers that we are the Kinston located in Alabama — same spelling, different state, more humidity.

If your weekly call volume climbs past 20, let us know. We can’t authorize overtime, but we can offer moral support and the comfort of knowing you are not alone in dealing with the public’s reading comprehension skills.
Appreciate the heads-up and your continued service as our accidental sister agency.

Sincerely,
Kinston Police Department
Kinston, Alabama

We would like to remind everyone that homecoming week is upon us. Please talk with, and remind your children about the importance of “clean fun.” Rolling yards is one thing, damaging property is another. Please if your kids are going to be dressed in dark clothing please remind them to stay away off of the highway. If someone expresses that they do not want their yard rolled please honor their wishes. We all look forward to a clean, fun week of homecoming events. Go BULLDOGS!

🚨 CARD SKIMMER WARNING 🚨

Our agency has located a credit card skimming device attached to a card scanner at one of our local dollar stores. These devices are used to steal card information during legitimate transactions.

We are urging everyone who has recently shopped at any local dollar store to check your bank and credit card statements immediately for any unauthorized charges.

We have also learned that similar devices have been discovered in a nearby city, which suggests this could be part of a larger operation.

Here’s what you can do:
• Monitor your bank and credit card accounts closely.
• Report any suspicious activity to your financial institution immediately.
• If you suspect fraud, file a report with your local law enforcement.
• Be cautious when using card readers—if anything looks unusual or tampered with, notify store staff and avoid using the terminal.

We are actively investigating this incident and no fraud has been reported at this time.

Public awareness is key to stopping these crimes.

The photo below is the card skimmer that was seized.

Please contact our department if you have any questions about this at 334-493-4511.
