Kingwood Area Republican Women - KARW

Kingwood Area Republican Women - KARW Our mission is to uphold the ideals of the Republican Party and support incumbent officials, as well as Republican women and men seeking political offices.

What Makes Kingwood Area Republican Women Unique? The uniqueness of Kingwood Area Republican Women is rooted in this community, a cluster of villages more reminiscent of a small town than the stereotyped sterile suburb. We’re unique because our members reflect the diversity of interest and activities that characterize the small towns of this country. The socio-economic scale is broad, ranging from

the affluent to the family of moderate means. Every adult age group is represented, from the young mother to the retiree. The enthusiasm of the political novice meshes with the experience of the old-timer. A former state committeewoman from Maryland trades ideas with the ex-Louisiana campaigner. A mélange of nationalities emerges when the women from Holland and the German emigrant chat with the Foreign Service wife. And a mix of hometowns which literally spans the continent is evidenced by the sound of the Southern drawl, New England crispness, Midwestern twang, and West Coast slang. Kingwood Area Republican Women are a bank vice president, deputy constable, interior designer, student, realtor, retiree, officeholder, emergency dispatcher, legislative aide, office holder’s spouse, congressional campaign manager, bookkeeper, teacher, homemaker, garden club president, and bridge enthusiast. These are our members, and it is they who make us unique!

Because Representative Charles Cunningham was able to finally push HB1532 through and make it law, Lake Houston is now a little safer. Texas HB1532 created the Lake Houston Dredging and Maintenance District. The special purpose conservation and reclamation district manages dredging operations and floating debris with the authority to oversee sediment management. The board will serve 4 year terms. Congratulations to KARW’s VP of Programming, Kathleen Jordan on her appointment to this important board. *Ken Kirchofer, not pictured, is also serving on this board.

Today, Houston City Council approved several appointments to the Lake Houston Dredging and Maintenance District Board:

Kathleen M. Jordan – Position 1 (appointed last week)
Derek St. John – Position 2
Sarah Berkey – Position 3
William Simpson – Position 5 and Chair of the Board

We extend our sincere congratulations to each of these appointees and thank them for their willingness to serve. Their leadership and dedication will help support the continued stewardship, management, and protection of the Lake Houston area. We look forward to working alongside them as they serve our community.

Congratulations to new Humble ISD School Board President, Mike Grabowski.

What a great “Pink Elephant” luncheon! We had an amazing panel of female jurists moderated by our dear friend, Judge Lincoln Goodwin. Special thanks to Judge Jessica Padilla for the idea and organizing the panel. Many thanks to Judge Laryssa Korduba, Judge Rachel Leal Hudson, Stella Stevens and Judge Lori DeAngelo who all took time out of their very busy schedules to be with us and share their experiences with us. Everyone looked beautiful in every shade of rose, pink, and magenta. The hats and fascinators were on point. Great job KARW!
