Greetings,

My apologies, I keep forgetting to post this. The Kingwood Police Dept is hosting another Citizen's Police Academy. The last class was a huge success and we received excellent reviews. Hope this one is the same.

This evening was the last class of the Kingwood PD’s Citizens’ Police Academy. I’m going to call it a very nice success. Got to meet new people and engage with community members. What a great time and a little sad that it came to an end. So very thankful for the folks that attended. Looking forward to the next one in June. Be blessed.

Good afternoon, tomorrow is the final class of the Citizen's Police Academy. I would like to thank everyone who attended. It was a pleasure getting to know each of you. From the feedback received it was a great success. Many thanks to Samantha Peaslee, Kingwood Elementary Principle, for allowing us to utilize the school's cafeteria and for bringing snacks.

The next class is scheduled to start June 10, 2026. More details to follow. Thank you and be blessed.

Good afternoon. We’ve gotten some feedback back about the “4-wheeler and side by side” post. Understand the Kingwood Police Department doesn’t post an ordinance or state law to imply we are going to start going after people on the streets. We post to inform so our citizens are aware. Also, we are well aware of state law with regard to this subject. However, citizens should understand a local government can, and normally always does, add restrictions to the state law, that applies within their respective jurisdictions. The ordinance will usually mimic state law verbiage, but adds restrictions and applies within city limits only. States do this with Federal laws. For example the Constitution gives us the right to keep and bear arms until you drive into Maryland or California. Municipal government can add more restrictions just like state government. Hope everyone has a safe and blessed weekend.

Friendly reminder, if you are riding a 4-wheeler or side by side within Kingwood City Limits, the vehicle must be registered and insured. The driver must also have a valid driver’s license.

Wow! Two posts in one day...I'm on a roll. There was such a great response to the first Citizens Police Academy, we decided to roll the dice and do it again.

This class will consist of three(3) Wednesday evenings starting on 10 June and will run every week with the last class being on 24 June 2026.

Take note the location has moved. June's class will be held at the Craig Civic Center, 313 Tunnelton St in Kingwood. Hope to see you there.

Good morning, all! Hope your weekend was safe and fun. Last week's Citizens Police Academy class on Case Law went swimmingly well. Chris delivered some very informative information. From the feedback received folks really enjoyed it.

Stayed tuned. This week's class will cover Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE). Developed out of Texas State University, this class explains how citizens respond to and survive these types of events. You don't want to miss it. Call 304.329.7455 to sign up.
