After graduating from Baylor University and South Texas College of Law, Johnny Holmes hired me as a Harris County Assistant District Attorney in 1997. As with most prosecutors I started out in the Misdemeanor Division, handling anything from Class C traffic tickets up to DWI, thefts and assaults. My first felony court assignment was in the 339th District Court, where in 7 months I tried a record, at the time, 17 jury trials. I had the privilege of serving Harris County in several positions at the District Attorney’s Office, including the Family Criminal Law Division, Chief of the Justice Courts Section, Deputy Chief of the Misdemeanor Division, Harris County Organized Crime Unit, Crimes Against Children Division and several of the felony trial courts. I was promoted to Felony District Court Chief in 2006 after the successful prosecution of a man who shot and killed a woman who was walking to her car and of a man who shot a Houston Police Department Officer in the face. After becoming a chief felony prosecutor I handled many Capital Murders, including the death penalty case of a man who robbed and murdered an elderly woman who was trying to help him get back on his feet after Hurricane Katrina. My final assignment was in the Major Offenders Division of the Special Prosecutions Bureau, working on upper level narcotics traffickers and violent offenders. In 2011 I was named Prosecutor of the Year by the Texas Narcotics Officers Association. In addition to these duties, over the years, I traveled the state teaching everyone from Justices of the Peace, to new prosecutors, to rookie and experienced police officers. On January 7, 2013, Governor Rick Perry appointed me to be Judge of the 230th District Court where I used all of my training and experience to ensure justice and fairness for all. I served as Judge until 2018. During that time my court was routinely found to be one of the most efficient courts, maintaining one of the lowest dockets while trying the most cases. In 2018 I was named Judge of the Year by the Texas Gang Investigators Association. After the 2018 election I joined the Fort Bend County District Attorney's Office as Chief of the Felony Trial Division. Now I am running to bring my years of expertise, experience and work ethic to the 14th Court Of Appeals, Place 8. I would be honored to have your support.
