Kingston Fire Department assisted Hauani Creek Vol Fire Dept yesterday on an extremely large fire in the northwest part of Marshall County. The Marshall County Task Force was paged out and all 10 fire departments, along with Mannsville and Dickson fire departments. Approximately 150 acres and up to 400 round hay bales were completely burned.
In these extreme conditions, firefighters often struggle with heat related issues. As the summer continues, we would like to remind everyone that Marshall County is under a burn ban currently. In temperatures exceeding 105 degrees and humidity extremely low, fires can occur quickly and move rapidly.
Thankfully, no injuries occurred and with the exception of a small shed sustaining minor fire damage, no structures were lost. It is without question that Marshall County came together yesterday and worked tirelessly to combat this fire. Many thanks go to Madill Fire Department, Lebanon Oklahoma Vol. Fire Department, Buncombe Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Enos/Cardinal Cove Volunteer Fire Department, Texoma Volunteer Fire Dept., Caney/Solider Volunteer Fire Dept., Tri-City Volunteer Fire Dept., and Willis-Powell Fire Department. Along with Marshall County EMS who supplied rehab with water and snacks, and Marshall County Sheriff's Office along with Oklahoma Highway Patrol who supported with traffic control along Simpson Road.
