The Kingston Police Department is comprised of 19 sworn members. It is the Third Largest Police Department in Luzerne County. Criminal Investigation Division, Special Investigations Division (SID), Juvenile Division, K-9 Unit and Patrol Division. The Kingston Police maintains a current Civil Service List which is updated through competitive written and physical agility testing. The Kingston Police Department is an equal opportunity employer.

🎓 WVW Graduation Traffic Pattern Changes & Parking Information 🎓

To help ensure a safe and orderly graduation event, the following traffic pattern changes will take effect starting at 3:00 PM on June 11th:

🚗 Traffic Changes
• Gates Avenue will be ONE WAY from Pierce Street toward Hoyt Street
• Welles/Tioga Avenue will be ONE WAY from Hoyt Street toward Pierce Street
• Humpleby Street will be CLOSED TO TRAFFIC

🅿️ Graduation Parking
Parking will be available at:
• Chester Street Elementary School
• Wyoming Valley West Middle School
• Saint Ann’s Chapel

Please allow extra travel time, follow all posted traffic signs, and use caution in the area as we celebrate our graduates. Thank you for your cooperation, and congratulations to the Class of 2026! 🎉🎓

🚨 TRAFFIC & PARKING ADVISORY – AMERICA250PA CONCERT AT KIRBY PARK 🚨

The Kingston Municipal Police Department would like to notify all residents, business owners, and visitors of traffic and parking restrictions associated with the America250PA Concert being held at Kirby Park on Saturday, June 20, 2026.

🚧 ROAD CLOSURE

Market Street from Dawes Avenue to South Gates Avenue will be CLOSED to all thru traffic for the duration of the event. Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

🚫 PARKING RESTRICTIONS

The parking lots at the following municipal facilities will be restricted to users of those facilities only:
• Church Street Park�• Kingston Recreation Center�• Department of Public Works (DPW)

These facilities will remain open; however, event parking will not be permitted in their parking lots. Vehicles parked on these properties for the purpose of attending the concert will be ticketed and towed.

ALL PARKING RESTRICTIONS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED. VIOLATORS WILL BE CITED AND TOWED AT OWNER’S EXPENSE.

🏢 ATTENTION BUSINESS OWNERS

Due to the large number of attendees expected, private parking lots may attract event parking.

Businesses that do not wish to permit public parking on their property are encouraged to take proactive measures, such as posting temporary signage, placing cones or barriers, or otherwise restricting access to their lots.

Property owners are responsible for controlling access to their private parking areas and enforcing any parking restrictions on their property.
We appreciate everyone's cooperation and patience as we work to ensure a safe and successful event for our community.

The Kingston Municipal Police Department is attempting to identify the male shown in the photograph below.

The male is a suspect in a retail theft that happened at Dollar General in Kingston Borough on Saturday, May 30, 2026. The male was driving a silver Hyundai Elantra.

⚠️ MICROMOBILITY SAFETY & ENFORCEMENT NOTICE ⚠️

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

Due to ongoing safety concerns and unsafe operation of electric scooters, mini bikes, e-bikes, and similar devices, we want to remind the public of Pennsylvania laws regarding micromobility vehicles.

❌ Electric scooters, electric skateboards, electric unicycles, and many similar devices are NOT legal to operate on public roadways in Pennsylvania unless they meet PennDOT registration, equipment, and inspection requirements. Most do not qualify and are only permitted on private property.

🚫 These devices are also not permitted to impede traffic, operate recklessly, weave through vehicles, ignore traffic signals/signs, or create hazards for motorists and pedestrians.

✅ Legal e-bikes must:
• Have operable pedals
• Weigh under 100 pounds
• Have a motor no greater than 750 watts
• Not exceed 20 MPH under motor power alone
• Operators must be at least 16 years old

⚠️ Riders are reminded:
• Helmets are strongly encouraged for all riders
• Lights are required when riding between sunset and sunrise
• Riders must obey all traffic laws
• Sidewalk riding may be prohibited in business districts
• Parents can be held responsible for juvenile violations

ENFORCEMENT POLICY EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY:

1️⃣ First Offense – Warning issued / Juvenile parents contacted
2️⃣ Second Offense – Citations issued
3️⃣ Third Offense – Citations issued and vehicle/device seized

These laws are in place to protect riders, pedestrians, and motorists alike.

Please ride responsibly and help keep our roads safe for everyone.
