United Way of Ulster County builds a coalition of compassion to address existing and emerging needs.

United Way of Ulster County plays a unique role in our community by effectively targeting funding to high quality programs that meet identified needs. We do this by:

* Assessing community needs through periodic needs
assessments including focus groups, community
forums, key informant interviews, and individual
surveys.

* Determining what programs best address identified
needs through a rigorous and competitive grant
process that requires grantees to have measurable
objectives, a plan for program evaluation and proof
of program impact.

* Evaluating programs through in-depth interviews
with program staff, observation of programs in
action, and review of program documentation.

United Way of Ulster County is excited to launch our reimagined 2026–2027 Community Impact Program, an opportunity for local organizations doing meaningful work across Ulster County to partner with us in strengthening our community.
We’re looking to invest in organizations and initiatives that are closing critical gaps, strengthening existing solutions, and creating measurable impact across one or more of our four service areas:
💙 Healthy Community
💜 Youth Opportunity
💚 Financial Security
❤️ Community Resiliency
This is more than funding. It’s an invitation to partner, collaborate, and work together to make sure resources raised right here in Ulster County are invested where they can make a meaningful difference.

The **Ulster County Deputy Sheriff’s Police Benevolent Association** is hosting its **5th Annual Back to School Drive** this Sunday, August 30 — and families are invited to come out for an afternoon of FREE fun before the school year begins!

Today’s paddlers took to the water from Waterside Spa at Diamond Mills, making their way toward the Saugerties Lighthouse by canoe, kayak, and SUP — all while supporting United Way of Ulster County. 💙
As the final paddlers make their way through the course, we’re feeling incredibly grateful to be the official charity of this wonderful community event. Participants were invited to make a donation to United Way, helping us continue our work supporting people and strengthening our community throughout Ulster County.
Thank you to every paddler who participated, donated, and showed their support today, and to everyone who helped make this special event possible. We’re so grateful to have you United with us!
