⚽🌟 Celebrating Unity Through Soccer! 🌟⚽
United Way of Ulster County was proud to partner with the amazing for the Ulster Future Stars Unity Cup, bringing young athletes together for a day of teamwork, sportsmanship, and community spirit.
The Unity Cup is more than just a soccer tournament—it was an opportunity for youth from across our community to build friendships, celebrate diversity, and experience the power of belonging through sport. Watching these future stars compete, support one another, and have fun was an inspiring reminder that when we come together, we all win.
A huge thank you to the players, families, coaches, volunteers, and partners who made this event possible. Together, we’re helping create a stronger, more connected Ulster County for the next generation. We made custom buttons and gave away free sunglasses! 😎

HVG EXTENDED DEADLINE

Hudson Valley Gives 2026 is a wrap (kinda), and we are deeply grateful

It's programs funded, families supported, and a community that showed up for each other.

Thank you to everyone who donated, shared, and championed this effort. We’ll see you next year.

If you missed your chance to donate, you can still contribute at the link in comments/bio for a little while longer, thanks to an EXTENDED DEADLINE of 24 hours! We stand by "better late than never."

Today only. 24 hours. Real impact.

Ulster County’s homelessness rate is the highest in the Mid-Hudson Valley. Emergency housing costs have ballooned 248% since 2020. United Way of Ulster County helps catch families before they fall.

Every dollar you give today helps a neighboring family in crisis find stability. And with matching grants and challenge awards, your donation goes even further today.

Tomorrow, May 20th, Ulster County shows up for its neighbors.

James couldn't get to work because his car broke down. One missed week of shifts away from falling behind on rent.

Maria got her hours cut. An eviction notice followed. Her kids didn't know they might lose their home.

David received a shutoff notice as winter approached. Without power, there would have been no heat.

All three reached out for help. All three were connected to United Way of Ulster County's HELPS program. All three got back on their feet.

These aren't isolated cases. Nearly 4 in 10 households in Ulster County can't afford basic needs right now — and that number is growing. When a family hits a wall, the gap between crisis and stability is often just one phone call, one grant, one act of community.

Tomorrow is Hudson Valley Gives — a 24-hour regional giving event where every dollar donated to United Way of Ulster County goes directly to programs like HELPS and our free VITA tax preparation service.

If you've ever wondered whether a donation actually makes a difference, James, Maria, and David are your answer.

Give tomorrow at the link in bio.

There’s a version of this story you already know.

A family gets hit with an unexpected bill. A job loss. A medical crisis. An eviction notice. They earn too much to qualify for most programs. But they’re one payment away from losing everything.

In Ulster County, that’s not an isolated case. As many as 4 in 10 households — more than 30,000 families — can’t afford their basic needs right now, even while employed.
United Way of Ulster County exists to be the bridge.

Through our HELPS Program, we issued 717 emergency grants in 2025 — one-time payments for rent, utilities, and the basics that keep families housed and stable. 53% of those families were single-parent families. Nearly half had children under 18 at home.

Through VITA, our free tax preparation program, we’re helping families claim every dollar they’ve earned. This year, we helped over 300 households file for free. Because a tax refund isn’t a bonus for families living paycheck to paycheck — it’s a lifeline.

On HVGives day, every dollar you give to United Way of Ulster County goes directly to this work — keeping families housed, keeping the lights on, and putting money back in the pockets of people who earned it.

Give where you live. Give on May 20.
