High School Students: Do you want to get paid for completing a certification? See the details below for a great opportunity!

The Center for Enhancing Education in Mathematics and Sciences (CEEMS) is pleased to offer two opportunities for asynchronous microcredential courses this summer for high school students!

The first is an introductory course focused on AI to explore the following: what AI is, how it is present in our lives, its potential impacts, and the various ethical, ecological, and educational considerations surrounding its use.

The second course will explore computational thinking, including its core components: algorithmic design, decomposition, pattern recognition, and abstraction.

Both courses are open to any high school students who will be in grades 9-12 for the 2026-2027 academic year, and students will receive a $200 stipend for each course completed ($400 for completing both).

Reminder that DEAD PERIOD for ALL SPORTS begins following this weekend. This means no coaching, observing, or contact between coach and players in sport involved. There is no practice, no open facilities, and no weight training/conditioning.

We are proud of our student-athletes and coaches for representing Midway High School so well!

We were excited today to make a presentation to several of our schools that had zero reports of unsportsmanlike conduct for 2025-26 school year : This award is named after Coach Richard Pickell who was the epitome of sportsmanship and always represented his school and community so well. The schools are Cherokee Middle , Harriman Middle, Rockwood Middle, Oliver Springs, Midway Middle, Midway High, Roane County High. We also appreciate our community members who donate to this award. Roane County Schools is proud to announce Dr. Ron Treadway as the new Vice Principal of Midway High School.
