We would like to recognize and congratulate RCSO Deputy Shayne Hurney (Pictured below with Sheriff Tim Phillips) for receiving the RCSO Life Saving Award"! Earlier this year Dep. Hurney responded to an individual who was choking; Deputy Hurney immediately assessed the situation and correctly applied the Heimlich Maneuver, clearing the man's airway and saving his life. We are proud of the women in the photograph below. Each participated and completed a new program here at the detention facility, one that we believe will be very beneficial as they transition back into society!

"I want to congratulate the first group of ladies who participated and completed the pilot TAMAR class I facilitated Wednesday mornings at Roane County Jail. TAMAR (Trauma, Addiction, Mental Health, and Recovery) is a trauma-informed, psychoeducational program designed for individuals involved in the criminal justice system, particularly incarcerated men and women with histories of trauma, substance use, and mental health challenges. The program recognizes that many justice-involved men and women have experienced significant childhood and adult trauma, which often contributes to patterns of addiction, mental illness, unhealthy relationships, and criminal behavior."
-Kristy Bentley, T.A.M.A.R. Training Coordinator

Special thanks and recognition to RCSO Detention Facility Programs Director Maretta McNichol for the lives she continues to positively impact.

The LCA Adopt-a-Cop program is such an important part of who we are as a school. We love, appreciate, and continually pray for all of our law enforcement officers who serve and protect our communities.

Our LCA family has been especially intentional in praying for Aaron Tuggle, and we wanted to send him this banner as a small reminder that he is loved, supported, and covered in prayer.

Aaron, please know that the LCA family is standing with you and lifting you up in prayer. We are grateful for you and for all those who serve our communities. ❤️💙🙏

As drivers, it’s important to know that children’s eyesight is still developing, and that they are more likely to act impulsively. If you see a child walking near the road or in a parking lot, don’t assume they can see you right away. Pay attention to your surroundings and always be ready to brake for someone’s safety!
