This past weekend, we kicked off Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week—themed this year as "Improving Outcomes, Together"—with a CPR training attended by nearly 50 community members. More than two-thirds of NKF&R calls are for medical emergencies. Our paramedics and EMTs provide excellent care, but when trained bystanders help before they arrive, it can make all the difference.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in making our community stronger. If you missed the training, you can find instructional resources and learn more about hands-only CPR at www.heart.org/handsonlycpr.

UPDATE: An unoccupied barn was destroyed, but no injuries were reported. Crews arrived in under five minutes and quickly contained the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures or the surrounding wooded area. The blaze was likely sparked by a w**d burner. NKF&R reminds residents: avoid using w**d burners near dry brush or debris, wet the area down after treatment and call 911 right away if a fire starts.
