📜 Honoring History in Roane County 🏛️
This past Saturday, the Roane County Heritage Commission hosted a wonderful evening at the Historic Roane County Courthouse — a true treasure in downtown Kingston and one of Tennessee’s few remaining antebellum courthouses.
✨ The evening’s honoree was Ron Woody, former Roane County Executive, recognized for his years of dedicated service and commitment to preserving Roane County’s heritage, growth, and community spirit.
The event celebrated not only Ron’s leadership but also the ongoing work of the Heritage Commission — whose mission is to protect and promote the stories, people, and landmarks that define our county’s rich history.
📍 About the Historic Courthouse:
Built in the 1850s, the courthouse stands proudly on the Kingston square and today houses the Roane County Archives and Heritage Commission offices, preserving decades of local records, photos, and memories.
A special thank you to everyone who came out to support this meaningful event and celebrate our shared history! 💙
