CALLING KINGSTON RESIDENTS:

Over the last month, posts on our page have had over 1.25MIL views and over 134K engagements (comments, likes, etc.). Roughly 1,600 comments. Approximately half of that coming within the last week alone. The audience is even wider when you consider the various news outlets reporting on our incidents.

That's cool and all but that's not our goal. Our goal is to ensure we are keeping our community informed and being responsive to your requests and needs.

As a small agency, social media and public information is a cursory duty for one of our supervisors. When our social media gets busy, we are probably busy in other ways as well. Sometimes, due to being busy, social media is often pushed aside by other responsibilities but we want to make sure we are providing what the community wants to see. Frankly, we can't realistically review all of the engagements/comments we get on this page, although we try to get to a good number of them.

That said, we of course want to focus on those who live in and visit Kingston. Keeping manpower in mind, we are looking for feedback from the community:

Do we like the frequency that the department is posting?

Do we want other types of communications?

Are there events or community outreach efforts you would show up to that we could do more of?

INCIDENT OF PUBLIC INTEREST - REGIONAL LAW ENFORCEMENT CALLED TO TOWN - MISSING PERSON LOCATED

Shortly after 2:00AM this morning, the patrol shift responded to reports of 4 males fighting in the middle of Howlands Lane. Upon arrival, it was found the group was looking for their missing friend.

Concerns were raised as the friend was reportedly a 20-year-old foreign exchange student who was intoxicated, unfamiliar with the area, and potentially near the ocean.

Kingston PD contacted METROLEC, a regional law enforcement asset consisting of various specialized teams, made up of trained members of dozens of local police departments.

In this case, we enlisted the help of the cell phone provider to locate the parties phone, used METRO Search and Rescue, METRO Drone Unit, and K9s from METRO and the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department.

After an over 3 hour search, just before 6:00AM, a drone operator located a thermal signature suspected to be our missing person. Officers moved in and a K-9 unit located the missing person. The individual was subsequently transported to the hospital by Kingston Fire. They are expected to be ok.

This incident makes us want to highlight two points:

1. You do not need to wait 24 hours to report someone missing. Officers assess fact patterns to determine if the person is believed to be intentionally missing or if they are at risk, and allocate resources appropriately. There is no minimum time needed, call immediately.

1. METROLEC is an invaluable resource. As a member agency, smaller agencies like ours can flood the town with trained officers for critical incidents such as this. We contribute members to various Task Forces and Teams to afford us the ability to respond to incidents with the resources needed to get the job done.

INCIDENT OF PUBLIC INTEREST - CRASH INVOLVING CAR VS PERSON - CPR IN ROADWAY

Today, shortly after noon, officers responded to Main St (Rt. 3A) at the intersection of Howlands Lane for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a car striking a pedestrian.

Upon arrival Officers discovered a 21-year-old female had been operating a scooter, was struck by a motor vehicle, and the female then struck her head against the pavement and was now unresponsive. CPR and life-saving efforts were conducted by officers and a passerby who was a Physician Assistant until the arrival of Kingston Fire. The female responded to care efforts and awoke. She was transported to the hospital for further care.

The involved vehicle and operator remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. Initial investigation showed no evidence of unreasonable operation by the vehicle operator but the investigation remains on-going.

The extent of the female’s injuries are unknown at this time but we are hopeful for a full recovery.

INCIDENT OF PUBLIC INTEREST - HATE CRIME

Earlier this week, shortly after 7:30AM on 9/8/26, officers responded to 41 Main St, Cumberland Farms for a reported fight in progress.

A black male identified as a victim in this case reported that he was at the gas pumps when a stranger, the suspect, began to yell racial slurs at the victim completely unprovoked. The suspect then charged at the victim and a fight ensued. The suspect reportedly kicked the victim, struck him several times, knocked him to the ground, and the victim fought back. The victim sustained several injuries including a suspected compound fracture to a bone.

Officers conducted an investigation and determined the suspect was the primary aggressor. Other witnesses provided statements appearing to corroborate the victims reports and stating that the suspect was out of control acting irate. The suspect continued to yell racial slurs and act irate in front of the officers.

Officer Oxsen subsequently arrested the suspect. Once at the police station the suspect complained of injury and was transported to the hospital. The suspect remained irate and continued to disturb the hospital ER room, yelling profanity and racial slurs at officers and staff and complaining about [racial slur for African Americans], as well as making sexualized comments.

The suspect was found to have a long history of violence. The suspect was later transported to the courthouse where he was arraigned.

Officer Oxsen continued his investigation in the coming days and was able to obtain video evidence from the Cumberland Farms, appearing to further corroborate the victims statements about an unprovoked attack.

The above are allegations and all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. The suspect is identified as Gary Phillipo II, 46, of Carver. The suspect has been charged with:

A&B with Dangerous Weapon causing Serious Bodily Injury
A&B to Intimidate resulting in Bodily Injury (Hate Crime)
Disturbing the Peace.

The suspect remained in custody after arraignment and is due back in court next month.

INCIDENT OF PUBLIC INTEREST

Earlier this evening, just before 5:00PM on 9/11/26, Kingston PD responded to reports of a road rage incident that had occurred in Halifax, where an individual brandished a firearm at the other driver. The suspect vehicle was described and located in Kingston.

Officers conducted what is known as a "high-risk" or "felony stop" on the suspect vehicle at Main St near Route 3 in the vicinity of Cancun Restaurant. Due to the nature of the report, officer's drew their fi****ms and issued commands to the vehicle operator. The operator remained argumentative and resistant to officer's commands.

Officers were able to safely detain the suspect and located a realistic looking pellet gun. The operator claimed he was "just showing it to someone."

The suspect was subsequently turned over to the custody of Halifax PD.

UPDATE:

The alleged suspect operator has turned himself in to the station. Zachary Jacobson, 19, of Kingston, is expected to face criminal charges involving leaving the scene of a crash resulting in personal injury and failure to stop for a police officer. Arraignment is anticipated for Monday morning. These are allegations and all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

PUBLIC ASSISTANCE REQUESTED

Shortly after 2:30PM today, at the intersection of Main St (Rt 3A) and Brook St (Rt. 80), a vehicle suspected to be a dark maroon almost black in color 4 door sedan, possibly a Subaru or similar, with 2 white male occupants estimated to be in their late teens, struck a Police Officer directing traffic near roadwork in the area (the officer is ok). The vehicle stopped momentarily, then fled the area headed south towards the highway.

The collision with the officer’s body caused notable damage to the passenger side-view mirror, resulting in the encasement and other parts falling off the mirror (attached). A stock photo of a potential vehicle, or similar, is also attached.

We are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the involved vehicle and operator. If you were in the area at approximately 2:30PM and witnessed anything, or if you have dash cam or a house in the area with surveillance, please check your cameras. Additionally, if you know a teen driving a similar car, please pay attention for matching damage.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY

Use caution in the area of Main St at Brook St (also known as Rt. 3A at Rt. 80).

Due to an accident resulting in a snapped utility pole, and a subsequent water main strike during initial repair work, there is police and utility service activity in the roadway near the above intersection. Also, the traffic light is currently disabled.

The area may be detoured to Brook and Second Brook St at times, and may permit occasional passing on Main St, depending on repair activities.

Timeline for repairs is still uncertain, but may impact morning commute and bus schedules.

Approach the area slow and with caution. Follow signage and police officer instructions.

Welcome back to school!

We hope the kids enjoy their first day back to school this morning. Our SROs will be back out greeting the children and ensuring school safety throughout all of our schools. With that, we have a reminder for all the drivers:

STOP MEANS STOP - NO EXCUSES

Kids are back in school and busses are back on the road. Please give yourself extra time to get around during pick up and drop off hours. Treat an extended stop sign on a school bus with flashing red lights the same as a red light. We will be stopping cars in the morning for speeding in school zones or disregarding school bus stop signs. Don’t be one of them.

We hope our students, teachers, and all of Kingston enjoys a happy and safe school year, and remember, drive like it’s your kid getting on that bus.

Case of Public Interest - Daycare Operator Wanted for Child Abuse

Yesterday, 8/27/26, the Kingston Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for Karen Rezendes, 51, of Kingston, for various criminal offenses involving alleged assault and batteries upon young children.

This comes after a multi-week investigation conducted by KPD detectives, including a forensic interview in coordination with the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office Children’s Advocacy Center, multiple interviews of witnesses, the review of video evidence alleged to depict the assaults, and the ex*****on of a search warrant at the residence earlier this week which provided corroborating evidence.

The investigation alleges that Rezendes has run an in-home daycare center in Kingston for several years which is known as “Oh Nana’s Daycare” and, at least in recent years, was physically abusing multiple children attending the daycare. This includes allegedly violently shoving a child to the ground, striking a child with kitchen accessories, slamming a child against a counter, locking a child in the attic, and additional abuse. The children were generally toddlers; age ranged roughly 1 to 4 years old.

The Massachusetts Department of Children and Families as well as Department of Early Education and Care have also conducted investigations. Subsequently, “Oh Nana’s Daycare” is no longer licensed.

Detectives sought and were granted an arrest warrant, issued by the court yesterday, and have been attempting to locate her. Rezendes was not home during the search warrant ex*****on at her residence earlier this week. Evidence was gathered at the residence and we suspect she became aware of police activity via her home security system. Since that time, it appears Rezendes has not returned home. After multiple attempts to locate her at her residence and other locations she is associated with, calling her and informing her attorney of the warrant, Rezendes has not surrendered herself and remains wanted by this department. If you know Rezendes, and know where she is, please notify Kingston PD. Do not attempt to detain her.

Additionally, while we locate her (and we will), we continue to work the investigation. If your child attended this daycare, you have not spoken to a detective, and you now suspect abuse, we would like to hear from you. Did your child make allegations of abuse that you first thought were outlandish, or did your child come home with injuries that were alleged to have been from innocent cause but were only witnessed by the defendant? They may have been the victims of physical abuse. It is important to remember we have been able to corroborate victim statements through other evidence in this case and anticipate we may be able to do so for additional victims who might come forward.
