Notice!

Kingsford Water System Customers
The City of Kingsford Water Department will conduct its annual watermain and hydrant flushing program beginning Monday, September 21, 2026. Crews will start in the Airport area, then continue through Breitung, Garden Village, Ford Addition, and the Heights. The work is expected to be completed by Thursday morning, September 24, 2026.

Hydrants are flushed periodically to maintain the water system, remove sediment from water mains, verify that hydrants and valves operate properly, and maintain firefighting capability. Residents may notice lower water pressure during flushing. If your water is discolored, let it run until it clears. Please plan your water use accordingly.

Kingsford Water/Sewer Projects Construction Update – 9/11/2026

Resident Update
The City of Kingsford is continuing progress on several water, sewer, storm sewer, concrete, gravel, and paving improvements throughout the community. Below is the latest project
status and anticipated schedule for affected streets.

Current Project Status
• Cass Avenue, Sheridan Street to Ripley Street: Watermain installation is complete. Crews are expected to begin work on water services around the first week of October.

• Cass Avenue, Carpenter Avenue to Kimberly Avenue: Watermain installation is complete. The contractor plans to bore water services into homes beginning this week and continuing through the end of September.

• Hamilton Avenue: Pipe work and concrete work are complete. Concrete sidewalksare expected to be finished next week. Gravel has been placed, and paving is anticipated by the end of next week.

• Ripley Street, from the school to Woodward Avenue: Watermain and storm sewer work are complete. Concrete curbs, sidewalks, and gravel are also complete. Paving is expected to be scheduled for the end of next week.

• Sheridan Street, Hamilton Avenue to Woodward Avenue: Watermain and storm sewer work are complete. Gravel placement is expected next week.

• East Breen Avenue: Final paving is scheduled for the end of next week. Residents are encouraged to use caution near active construction areas and follow posted signage or direction from crews.

Schedules may change due to weather, material

Reminder that the City Hall & Public Works Buildings will be closed on Monday, 9/7/2026, for Labor Day.

Starting Tuesday, September 8, 2026, the City Hall will move to our normal business hours of Monday thru Friday 7:30am - 4:30pm!

** 2:52pm Update - The water is restored for the 700 & 800 blocks of Cass Avenue. Our Crew is still working to restore the water for Woodward Ave. **

Our water crew is actively working to resolve a watermain break on Woodward.

The following blocks are affected - 700-800 blocks of Woodward & Cass Avenue

We are anticipating around 2-3 hours before it is resolved and will update as soon as we receive more information.

Hello,

We have received many requests for street signs and are working through them as quickly as possible. We are not accepting requests by phone. To request a sign, please email [email protected] with the sign you are requesting. If you receive an email saying your sign is ready for pickup, please pick it up within one week. Signs not picked up within one week will be offered to the next person in line.
We are no longer keeping a waitlist for signs that are not currently in inventory. After current requests are processed and picked up, we will share an updated list of available street signs.
We have confirmed that the signs crossed off the list below are no longer available.
